Good morning all, and welcome to Radio Free Monday!

Ways To Give:

[personal profile] begemot has a comment here asking for financial assistance; they're getting slammed by the state of Ohio claiming they were overpaid, and are now being required to pay the state while facing other bills as well.

[personal profile] sweetgadget had their car die due to a hydro-lock engine from a flash flood. They can't afford to fix it and can't get to work without it, so they're looking for help to get their car repaired and offering podfic in exchange.

Anon linked to a friend who is participating in Braking The Cycle, a bicycle ride from NYC to Boston to raise money for HIV/AIDS Services of Housing Works. You can check out his fundraiser page and donate to support his ride here.

Help For Free:

[livejournal.com profile] arsenicjade has a post up on behalf of a friend who is looking for a new home for her pet bird; she's moving to the US from Spain and he won't be allowed in the country. They're looking for someone in Madrid who would like a very nice singing parakeet.

[personal profile] storybrooke has just accepted a job in NYC and needs to move into an apartment by the last week of September or the last weekend at the latest. She is pet-friendly, fandom-friendly, prefers nonsmokers, and is looking for walking access to trains with a relatively easy commute to Manhattan (under 45 min.). She's looking for $900/month rent or less. You can contact her via PM or by emailing lipscouldbuildacastle at gmail dot com.

Claire linked to a contest at CharityVillage where you can comment to win a free copy of "The Book Of Business Awesome". The article is Claire's usual blend of funny and intelligent, too.

News To Know:

An upadate -- I LOVE GIVING UPDATES -- Katheryn, who asked us to vote for her to win a scholarship last Monday, dropped a line to let me know that because of the Cafe's votes, she won the scholarship. She said to tell you that you're all awesome. :D

My good friend [livejournal.com profile] simon has a new poetry chapbook out, Catastrophe and Tense; the site linked to also has examples of his poetry, which I think is marvelous stuff.

[livejournal.com profile] the_rainbow_jen linked to an NPR report on a fascinating study of the geography of charitable giving.

Just For Fun:

[livejournal.com profile] lusse_kun linked to AfterElton's "Slash Tournament" where they are pitting popular slash pairings from different fandoms up against each other to see who will win. Round two is now open!

[livejournal.com profile] kallaneboi linked to an article about the apparent discovery of a real-life Gallifrey.

And this has been Radio Free Monday! Thank you for your time. You can always post items for my attention in comments here (or on any post) or email me at copperbadge at gmail dot com. If you're not sure how to proceed, here is a little more about what I do and how you can help (or ask for help!). Remember, brevity is the soul of RFM.
