Jan. 21st, 2013 07:22 amGood morning all, and welcome to Radio Free Monday!
Ways To Give:
Hannueshe is in financial hardship at the moment and needs to raise $5K within the week to get back to school, so that she can keep her workstudy job and so that her student loans don't come due. She's accepting donations and loans as well as offering other services here.
cadenzamuse linked to slam poet Gabe Moses, and his poems How to Make Love to a Trans Person and Stimming. Gabe is raising money for sex-reassignment surgery, and accepting donations at his front page here.
majoline linked to
dancingthroughthestars, who is raising money for medical treatment for their pet chinchilla Tutti. They're accepting donations but also offering tarot readings to raise the cash.
@BrewsterNorth linked to Bats In Need, a fundraiser to help sick and injured bats due to the extreme heat and fires that have been plaguing Australia of late.
Help For Free:
Rebecca has a professor who keeps a list of fiction books concerning archives, archival, and preservation. Rebecca is looking for Scifi/Fantasy titles to add to the list, as The Eyre Affair is pretty much the only one on there right now. Suggestions can go in comments!
lightwalker is doing thesis research on skateboarding, and would like your help! If you skateboard to get to work, to the bus stop, or to go grocery shopping you’re invited to take a survey about why and where you skate. The purpose of the survey is to help urban planners and cities understand more about skateboards as a useful mode of transportation. This study is for people age 18 or older, who live in the U.S. or Canada, and who have skated as a way to get around within the last five years. Responses will be confidential and used for research purposes only.
Just For Fun:
Chai and I want to remind all of you that there is still a week left on auditions for the Dead Isle podfic project. There are posts up at
deadislepodfic,
deadislepodfic, and here on tumblr. Everyone who wants to audition needs to submit a sound check, so make sure you check your platform of choice for more information!
And this has been Radio Free Monday! Thank you for your time. You can always post items for my attention in comments here (or on any post) or email me at copperbadge at gmail dot com. If you're not sure how to proceed, here is a little more about what I do and how you can help (or ask for help!). Remember, brevity is the soul of RFM.
