Apr. 1st, 2013 08:22 amGood morning everyone, and welcome to Radio Free Monday!
Ways To Give:
Anon linked to an Indiegogo campaign in which a teacher is asking for funding to create "a free downloadable resource for k-12 teachers to integrate a positive consent-based alternative to the prevalent messages of rape culture."
greenapricot linked to The Peterborough Community Theater in New Hampshire, an indy cinema raising the money to make the switch to digital from film. Like so many other small theaters, if they can't raise the funds for digital equipment, they will have to close at the end of 2013 when film stops being available. The Kickstarter campaign ends April 3.
dreamwaffles linked to an indiegogo for Oya: Rise of the Orisha, a project to explore the mythology of African deities known as Orishas, set in modern-day Britain. It looks like an awesome project!
Anon has a post up asking for help raising funds for some fairly necessary and urgent dental work. The post linked to here is an anonymized account, but they have contact information there for anyone who wants to help.
Dulcemeow on Tumblr is raising funds to pay for surgery for her cat, who needs a procedure performed to prevent further urinary blockages. You can read more and see how to donate here.
News To Know:
moyakite has put her book, Pendular Motion, up for free this Monday through Friday to celebrate the release of a bunch of other short story bundles from the last few weeks. It's been called "existential science fiction" by at least one reader. :)
arsenicjade replied to last week's link about the rainbow house across from the Westboro Baptist Church with the information that two of its already very-few members have left the church. A little less hate in the world, hurrah!
Just For Fun:
Bracketofbrackets on Tumblr is a font competition to see what the Best Font Ever is -- they're in the middle of voting so it's a good time to drop in and see what's going on!
celtic_maenad linked to a hilarious explanation of the X-Men.
And this has been Radio Free Monday! Thank you for your time. You can always post items for my attention in comments here (or on any post) or email me at copperbadge at gmail dot com. If you're not sure how to proceed, here is a little more about what I do and how you can help (or ask for help!).
