Good morning all, and welcome to Radio Free Monday!

Ways To Give:

[livejournal.com profile] nutmeg3 linked to an indiegogo for [livejournal.com profile] originalwacky, who has lost her house in a fire and is trying to raise funds to house herself and her kids, as well as provide for her pets and those she's fostering in search of homes.

[livejournal.com profile] fiercy linked to a GoFundMe for the not-for-profit San Bernadino Sexual Assault Services office, which was burglarized in late July. The thieves, somewhat incredibly, returned the stolen equipment with a note of apology, but the damage to the office is still done. You can read more here.

Help For Free:

Doola linked to a petition to stop the proposal for a housing development situated within the site of an iron age hillfort, Old OSwenstry Hillfort in Shropshire. It's one of the largest and best-preserved iron age hillforts, and the development could do it significant damage. There's a Facebook page to follow the campaign here.

Buy Stuff, Help Out:

[personal profile] waywren and her roommate are raising funds to keep their rent and bills paid after she left a job that was making her physically and mentally ill. They're offering fanfic commissions, tarot readings, and horoscopes for donations; you can get the details here on Dreamwidth or here at Tumblr.

[personal profile] thedeadcat is trying to raise money college expenses to finish a degree, including daycare for kids, travel and book costs; she's also short on cash in general at the moment. For both these reasons, she is selling gemstone, wire, and glass jewelery, with custom requests accepted; you can check out her etsy store here.

[personal profile] deepad is selling some Indian jewelery to raise money to cover the costs of her visit to the US, which is coming to an end and was slightly more complicated than expected. Today is the last day of the sale; earrings, necklaces and bracelets are here and there are some additional scarves and anklets here.

[personal profile] trinity_clare linked to KudosCon, a convention specifically focused on fanworks, which will be held in January in Minnesota. They're raising funds to hold the con via kickstarter, which is the only way to register for the con; it sounds like it's going to be a great time. (I am actually working on a project that may be unveiled at Kudoscon, which would be exciting.)

Just For Fun:

Mark linked me to Flying Higher, an anthology of superhero poetry which includes work by Mark's friend Shira and one of the Cafe's own, Cluegirl! You can get more information at Shira's post here and get it for free from Smashwords here!

And this has been Radio Free Monday! Thank you for your time. You can always post items for my attention in comments here (or on any post) or email me at copperbadge at gmail dot com. If you're not sure how to proceed, here is a little more about what I do and how you can help (or ask for help!).
So, all my ducklings were in Baltimore at a conference this weekend, when a royal family arrived. We don't know which one. Just, a royal family.

This royal family decided they were going to stay in the hotel where the conference (that my staff were attending) was being held, and that they needed an entire floor of the hotel. Which meant that an entire floor of conference attendees got kicked out and, because the hotel was full, had to go to other hotels. This included two (but thankfully ONLY two) of my ducklings.

Why was the hotel so full? Well, there was the conference, of course.

And then there was Otakon, an east coast sci-fi convention that also happened this weekend. (Possibly answering the question "Why was a royal family visiting Baltimore?" Someone's a royal nerd!)

Me: Hey coworker, I hear the royal family kicked you out.
Coworker: Yeah, that was really strange. And then there was this other conference in town, it was...anime, everywhere...
Me: Otakon?
Coworker: That's the one! There were a lotta Batmans.
Me: How'd that go for you?
Coworker: Well, my new hotel room was next to a Sailor Moon.
Me: ...you know what Sailor Moon is?
Coworker: I did after she explained it to me in breathless detail over the free continental breakfast.

Worlds colliding...
