Good morning, everyone, and welcome to Radio Free Monday!

Ways To Give:

[livejournal.com profile] justice_turtle needs a super-cheap place to stay or places to couch-surf, starting on or before Christmas, in the Washington DC metro area. You can read more and offer helphere.

[livejournal.com profile] fiwen1010 let me know about a friend who is trying to move out of a house with dangerous wiring (and is facing eviction because of the electric bill due to the bad wiring). They're raising funds for moving and deposit on a new place; you can read more and donate here.

[personal profile] shoaling_souls linked to a gofundme for her girlfriend, who will be evicted a week before Christmas if they don't raise $1800 to cover rent. You can read more and donate here.

[personal profile] brainwane linked to Mia S-N, who has a Patreon and is asking for support to help her make "Illustration, calligraphy, beautiful words". She is "a queer Filipina artist who recently immigrated to Australia for True Love" and her art is lovely. (A Patreon, which was new to me, is a site that allows you to sponsor a certain dollar amount "per finished work" which the artist then shares digitally.)

Jobs!

The Grolier Book Poetry Book Shop in Cambridge, MA is hiring a new part-time manager. If you love poetry and have extensive book-selling experience, consider applying! [personal profile] jjhunter has a copy of the job advert posted here.

Housing:

[personal profile] nepenthe is looking for a roommate in Mesa, AZ. "Friendly geeky lady seeking fellow (geeky) lady roommate in Mesa, AZ. Cross streets, McKellips and Stapley. The basement belongs to them, which means a bedroom, FULL bathroom, living room, and storage area. All told, about 700 sq ft. Shared spaces: kitchen and laundry room."

[livejournal.com profile] queencallipygos is looking for a roommate starting in February in the Clinton Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. New renter would have two rooms in an apartment ina a brownstone. Cats welcome, and a fandom-friendly roommate!

News To Know:

[personal profile] madam_beetroot linked to Stacye Bartlett, who is looking at gender and racial diversity in book reviewers in UK newspapers, with some very interesting results. You can read more about it here.

[livejournal.com profile] fiwen1010 linked to a story about the Plantaganet Alliance, who are fighting to have Richard III reburied in York. The question that's being addressed is whether or not there should have been consultation on the burial place once it became clear that they had, indeed, found Richard, or even sooner when they knew that that was who they were looking for.

Just For Fun:

[livejournal.com profile] mayexist linked to an experiment posted by [livejournal.com profile] jedusaur: a work that consists of the Kudos on the work. Quote: "I just realized you can kudo your own work if you leave kudos before you're added as an author. So I've initiated a mass collaboration, wherein everyone who leaves kudos will be added as an author, because the work consists of the kudos." Someone in the comment section also raised the question of whether an author limit exists, so they're finding out. For science :D

And this has been Radio Free Monday! Thank you for your time. You can always post items for my attention in comments here (or on any post) or email me at copperbadge at gmail dot com. If you're not sure how to proceed, here is a little more about what I do and how you can help (or ask for help!).
HAHAHAHAHA *cries*

This new building we've moved to officially ruins everything.

Normally every year we have an office party at a nice ballroom somewhere, with an open bar and a catered meal and a raffle afterwards for admittedly semi-ridiculous prizes. It's horrible if you're me, because I'm socially awkward and hate parties, but at least it's mellow horrible; I just have to sit there for two hours and not spill anything on myself.

This year they've decided to have a "building party" meaning that instead of going somewhere and having a nice meal, we get snack platters laid out in conference rooms spread across four floors of office space. The main event is a cooperative team scavenger hunt to find where our coworkers sit "To get to know the new space!"

Fuck you, it's a building, not my future bride. I'm not twelve, I'm over scavenger hunts, and I already know where everyone sits because I CAN READ A MAP.

Plan "slip out a side door 20 minutes after the party starts" is a go.
