Feb. 17th, 2014 08:14 amGood morning everyone, and welcome to Radio Free Monday!
Ways To Give:
adelheide is still looking for work so in the meantime, she needs to suppliment her income. She still has lots of stuff on sale but sale items are going fast. Take a look before something you want is gone!
etakyma linked to a fundraiser for Raiders Guys and the Lost Airplane Scene. Twenty-five years ago, three childhood friends re-created, shot for shot, Raiders of the Lost Ark with themselves and their friends in all of the roles. The film was missing only one scene, the airplane scene where Indy fights off the Nazi leader. They're raising money to build the "wing" and reunite to film the final scene twenty-five years later.
heuradys linked to the Dingle Wildlife and Seal Sanctuary in Ireland, which has been devastated by the recent storms. They currently have fourteen pups in care, and no funding to repair or relocate. You can read more and donate to help at their GoFundMe page here.
Helping Fandom:
Jesse linked to Hater Free Saturdays, which (like Hater Free Wednesdays for comic shops) is dedicated to helping women, people of colour, and non-cishet people find geeky shops, in this case gaming stores, that aren't filled with assholes. ETA -- Jesse reminded me they're also looking for submissions for gaming stores from gamers with disabilities and/or those who are knowledgeable about accessibility. If you have a store to recommend, a store to warn people about, or are looking for a good shop, check them out!
holli is making a set of fanzines for Brooklyn Zinefest on April 27, and is looking for contributors. Fandoms are Buffy, Avatar the Last Airbender, Star Trek and Young Wizards; fics should be under 1000 words and black & white art or comics should be under 4 pages. The deadline is March 31, and you can read more about how to contribute here.
Just For Fun:
mycatsellsclues linked to an article about Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, a London pub with an impressive collection of erotic tiles. They had them on display one-day-only for Valentine's Day, but the article is well worth a read and has a few samples to share.
And this has been Radio Free Monday! Thank you for your time. You can always post items for my attention in comments here (or on any post) or email me at copperbadge at gmail dot com. If you're not sure how to proceed, here is a little more about what I do and how you can help (or ask for help!).
