Good morning everyone, and welcome to Radio Free Monday!

Ways To Give:

[livejournal.com profile] dramapunk is currently living in an emotionally abusive home and is trying to raise funds to move into a safer environment. She is unable to drive and is looking for work on the east coast (she is currently in Las Vegas) in cities with reliable transit due to vision problems that leave her unable to drive. She has a gofundme where you can read more and make donations, but is also looking for job leads; she has experience in independent film, journalism and theater tech work. She can be reached at [livejournal.com profile] dramapunk and [personal profile] dramapunk.

[livejournal.com profile] justice_turtle needs a place to stay for free until late August anywhere in the continental US. She thanks the Café very much for paying her bus ticket; she got to Michigan safely but now has to leave again. She requests a bed, internet access, willingness to feed her if she can't find a job, and no shouty people. Donations via PayPal to detectivekraken AT gmail DOT com are still much appreciated.

Anon linked to [tumblr.com profile] actuallyclintbarton, who has lost his job due to disability and is taking donations to make ends meet until he or his wife, [tumblr.com profile] taibhsearachd, can find another job. [tumblr.com profile] taibhsearachd is additionally offering original fiction for people who donate; you can read more and donate here.

[livejournal.com profile] mad_maudlin linked to an indiegogo for novelist Eric O. Scott, who is raising money for a language class/research trip to Iceland this summer. He writes about Paganism, Wicca, and Asatru/Heathenry as well as his personal experience of growing up a second-generation Pagan and being a minority religion in the Midwest. You can check out cool perks, read more, and support the project here.

[livejournal.com profile] carmy_w linked to an indiegogo fundraiser for an abortion clinic in Montana, which was severely vandalized last week and needs to rebuild and repair. You can read more about the vandalism and donate here; they've already made their goal, but of course more funding always helps.

[personal profile] oriolegirl linked to a kickstarter for "Enemy Of Man", an indy-funded retelling of Macbeth starring Sean Bean, Rupert Grint, and Charles Dance. You can watch the trailer and support the film here.

Housing:

Lynne and her roommate are looking for a summer subletter in Somerville, MA, to share their 3-bedroom, 1-bath apartment starting May 1. Rent is $750/mo (without utilities), Lynne and her roommate Becky are both fannish, and you can read more about the apartment and contact them via their craigslist post here, or at 298498 at soas.ac.uk

Just For Fun:

[livejournal.com profile] frenchroast linked to a webcomic strip very reminiscent of my recent experience with gallstones...

Monique linked me to a great piece about an origami master who folded a life-sized elephant out of paper. The vid is especially awesome!

[personal profile] akatonbo is looking for "petty change" from around the world for a project -- small denomination coins from around the world or arcade and subway tokens. It seems like a pretty cool project. You can read more about how to send in your coins here!

And this has been Radio Free Monday! Thank you for your time. You can always post items for my attention in comments here (or on any post) or email me at copperbadge at gmail dot com. If you're not sure how to proceed, here is a little more about what I do and how you can help (or ask for help!).
I appear, quite suddenly, to have acquired a real estate broker. After having done my taxes for the first time, this is the most grownup moment of my life to date, probably.

It's cool, though; he's either young or very digitally engaged, and I like the way he functions. He sets up a search with my parameters (rent, bedrooms, location) and it dumps listings into my folder at his website, where I can click "like" "maybe" or "do not like" after perusing the information. Then I just tell him to set up visits for the ones I like. So far I like three of the nine he sent me, which really is more like six since a bunch of them are identical units in a single building.

Of course at some point I'm going to have to meet him face to face and get awkward all over him, but at least I'm no longer wandering aimlessly around the south loop, writing down addresses like a creeper.

And even if none of the current apartments work out, I'll get to see the inside of River City, which is the coolest building in the south loop. Possibly crumbling and dimly lit, but so cool.
