May. 19th, 2014 08:05 amGood morning, everyone, and welcome to Radio Free Monday!
Ways To Give:
an-emkay-universe let me know that
zombres is fundraising to get a much needed car. You can support her Patreon here, which allows you to request writing in exchange for donation and read more about her here.
Anon (a member of the cafe who wishes to be anonymous) linked to a gofundme fundraiser to help a friend pay for tuition to an automotive training program. As a writer, she is offering to write about topics sent to her by supporters of the fundraiser. You can read more and support the fundraiser here.
Oceloty linked to information about fundraisers for a health care team traveling to Peru to run free medical clinics this June. There is a YouCaring fundraisers here and for folks in the Boston area there are two events coming up:
-- Tuesday 5/20/14 from 6-9pm at Workbar in Central Square, $24, includes dinner and drinks. Donors will be entered in a raffle for prizes.
-- Tuesday 6/3/14 from 7-9pm at Penguin Pizza, Mission Hill, free entry; donors will be entered in a raffle for prizes.
Amethystfirefly linked to a fundraiser for Once On This Island, an honors thesis production being created at Arizona State University. You can read more about the blind casting technique that will be part of the thesis here and help support production costs for the show (licensing and other materials) at their gofundme page.
Housing:
kinetikatrue is still looking for a new housemate for the People's Republic of Fandom, a 4 bedroom Victorian in Takoma Park, Maryland. You can read more about the household and its amenities here, as well as how to contact the residents.
Just For Fun:
air_ocean linked to The Lives of Machines: The Industrial Imaginary in Victorian Literature and Culture, a book that may be of interest to those who like steampunk, anything Victorian and/or machines. It's available online for free, along with many other digital culture books at the site.
Ang linked to an Onion article about the UN Report On Magical Realism which I think readers of this journal will enjoy.
And this has been Radio Free Monday! Thank you for your time. You can always post items for my attention in comments here (or on any post) or email me at copperbadge at gmail dot com. If you're not sure how to proceed, here is a little more about what I do and how you can help (or ask for help!).
