Jul. 19th, 2014 10:39 am I am still alive!
The move went smoothly -- no injuries, for sure, which is nice -- and today we've been unpacking and making a list of what I need to buy or repair. There are always one or two things that the landlord overlooked since the last tenant moved out -- in this case, a few burnt out lightbulbs, a dusty intake vent, and a Mysterious Humidity about the dryer. (I think the rear vent probably just isn't sealed properly.)
I'm nursing a bit of a headache so the motto of the day is "slow and steady" or as mum put it, "hourly sit-down breaks". She says she saw the ghost this morning in the mirror, so maybe I'm not 100% bonkers. Then again, this is the woman who raised me.
She brought me an Aloe Vera plant as a housewarming gift. I said I was naming it Ragtime.
"Ragtime?" she asked.
"Yeah," I said. "Aloe, my ragtime gal."
Fortunately, mum likes puns as much as I do, so she was laughing too hard to throw anything at me.
I have been running the washing machine and dishwasher all morning; I think everything in my apartment is nearly clean. This afternoon we're doing a Bed Bath & Beyond run to buy various home goods (Bed, Bath) and maybe a little something for the ghost (Beyond). And then a sushi-and-robata place for dinner because I want some salmon nigiri and Mum likes things on sticks.
