Good morning everyone, and welcome to Radio Free Monday!

Ways To Give:

[personal profile] noxelementalist linked to a fundraiser for a homeless mother who is trying to get on her feet and get her children back from Child Protective Services. You can read more about the family and help them with funds for the kids and living expenses here.

[personal profile] maschalismos was recently diagnosed with lupus and fibromyalgia, and is struggling to cover medical bills for her diagnosis and for ongoing attempts at treatment. You can read more and help out with her medical bills here.

[livejournal.com profile] editrx is still raising funds to keep her small new and used bookstore, Star Cat Books, open for business while she deals with car troubles, illness, and various bills. It's been a slow year for winter retail given the terrible cold, which hasn't helped with the cost of heating oil either. You can read more at her LJ there, or read more and support her bookstore here.

[livejournal.com profile] knitchick1979's costuming group is holding a fundraiser for St. Jude's, featuring "A Night at the Museum" at the Volo Auto Museum on April 3rd. At the moment they're raising funds online to get the event rolling; you can read more about their event and support the fundraiser here, or check out their facebook here if you want to get in touch to help out!

Anon linked to Rogers Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, the only all-bird rehab center in North Texas, which is raising $50K to stay open and operating. You can read more about what they do here, and support their fundraising efforts here.

Help for Free:

Ms. G is a high school AP World History teacher, mentoring a junior-level student working on a required year-long research project studying the potential relationship between faith (or the lack thereof) and an individual's happiness and sense of involvement or representation in their country's government. They have a google survey form up and are looking for survey responses particularly from outside of the United States; if you'd like to participate, you can read the survey and fill it out here.

And this has been Radio Free Monday! Thank you for your time. You can post items for my attention at the Radio Free Monday submissions form or via email at copperbadge at gmail dot com. If you're not sure how to proceed, here is a little more about what I do and how you can help (or ask for help!).
Hey look! It's a non RFM post! :D

I'm trying to reup my presence here a little (I know, I'm one of those terrible people who abandoned the platform for tumblr) so I'm trying to remember to take interesting posts off there and put them on here as well.

It occurred to me this morning that there is rarely a week that goes by at work without me stumbling my ass into:
  • Family scandal: guy has four kids, we know about all four kids, all four kids were at school together, three of those kids don’t know kid #4 is their half-sibling.
  • Financial horror: dude tried to buy a small liberal arts college and turn it into a libertarian utopia.
  • Criminal behavior: Hey, this house is in a tax district where you’re taxed on the number of bedrooms the house has. Odd how his house has seven bathrooms and one bedroom.
  • International intrigue: The head of operations for several government agencies across the middle east for the last forty years now lives in a nondescript $150K condo in Washington DC; is supposedly “retired”.
  • Billionaire excess: “You can charter my yacht and it comes with three other boats and a gourmet chef, but if you want the submarine you have to ask for it specifically.”
And the best part is, not only could I get myself into trouble with any or all of the above, I could probably get close enough to a Chinese billionaire, and I currently know enough about the corruption crackdown in China, to blackmail him into getting me safely to Shanghai.

I’ve considered writing a thriller novel.
