Aug. 10th, 2015 07:31 amGood morning everyone, and welcome to Radio Free Monday!
Ways to Give:
etcet linked to a fundraiser for
hellsop and
geekers, who along with their neighbors lost their home and car to a fast-moving fire last night. They have no renter's insurance, and while they made it out safely, they have lost all their belongings; they also aren't sure whether their cats survived the blaze. You can read more and help raise funds for themat their GoFundMe here; their neighbors also have a GoFundMe set up here.
Amanda has been terminated from her job because of mental health issues and after six weeks has been unable to find work; her savings has been used up on rent and prescription bills, and she's looking at being unable to pay rent or bills in September. Once she's back on her feet she'd like to pay back the funds or pay forward to help someone else (donor's choice). You can donate through paypal to perkymandarin at fuse.net .
mrshamill is raising funds for a friend who is in bad financial straits; with two kids and health issues she's having trouble making ends meet, and now her water heater is failing. You can read more and help give here or send donations via paypal to flammetirar at gmail.com.
Anon linked to a fundraiser for
sheafrotherdon, who just bought a house and has now been told she'll lose her insurance if she doesn't replace the roof. The house took all her savings, so she doesn't have the $8.5K needed to replace the roof; borrowing against her savings she's still $1K short. You can read more here and help out here; while she's reached her initial goal, any donations mean that much less she has to borrow.
eimearkuopio's friend Kia died suddenly and unexpectedly recently, and her wife is now trying to raise two children alone, with no life insurance to help with funeral expenses. You can read more and help out here and also read Eimear's post about Kia and Sabrina here.
maschalismos was recently diagnosed with lupus and fibromyalgia, and is struggling to cover medical bills for her diagnosis and for ongoing attempts at treatment. You can read more and help out with her medical bills here.
editrx has been struggling a lot lately, and is now facing huge water bills, plus a lien on her house for a property tax bill that has gone past due. She needs to raise $6K to keep her head above water. You can read more about her situation here and help her keep her home here; she also has jewelry for sale on Etsy and her bookshop, Star Cat Books, sells through abebooks here.
taragreen89's sister Uma has been accepted into the Alonzo King LINES Ballet Training program in San Francisco, but because it's not considered a "college" there's no federal financial aid available. She's raising money for tuition and also for housing in the Bay Area. You can read more and help out here and check out updates here.
