It's been a hell of a week. I keep trying to post here more, but either my day isn't interesting enough or it's WAY TOO INTERESTING, in the "may you live in interesting times" sense.

I've been having back pain that feels internal rather than muscular so I had a CT scan this week, which was uh, "fun". I've realized that doctors tend to think I'm way more nervous about new procedures than I am, but I think it's that most people are nervous and I'm just looking forward to a new body experience. I don't mind a bit of pain but I like the unique new sensations a lot of medical procedures cause. Grist for my mill, I suppose.

The FIRST SNOW OF THE YEAR happened on Friday night. Mum flipped out, per usual, so I promised her I wouldn't go out on Saturday in the two inches of snow that accumulated. Which wasn't difficult as I wasn't planning on going out anyway. :D She's been in Texas long enough that she has a Texan's reaction to snow, which is "Crazy people don't know how to drive in it and will murder you by driving recklessly". Fair enough. I have a Chicagoan's reaction to heat, which is OH GOD SHIELD ME FROM THE DAY STAR.

I've been rewatching old CSI episodes, in series order, intrigued by which ones I missed when live television was the only option to see them. I missed like 90% of Warrick's gambling-addiction arc and wow, did these writers not know how to write about mature adult relationships. I can't understand at least half of Sara Sidle's reactions to Gil Grissom's behavior and that's...not Sara's fault.

I'm off to Texas this week, flying out on Thursday. Mum is unusually thrilled about me coming home and keep trying to plan things for us to do, then remembering that she can barely walk right now. I'm planning to bring home a jigsaw puzzle, which at least has a chance of keeping her busy. :D
