Good morning everyone! Happy Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and welcome to Radio Free Monday!

Ways to Give:

Sonia linked to a fundraiser for a friend, Cookie, who is recovering from surgery and chemo for his aggressive cancer. The fundraiser is for medical and travel expenses, plus support for other costs; you can read more and support the fundraiser here.

[livejournal.com profile] editrx has been struggling a lot lately, and is facing a lot of bills, a lien on her house, and overdue rent on her independent bookstore. She's currently raising funds to pay back rent to keep from being evicted; you can read more here and help out here; you can also do your Christmas book shopping online at Starcat Books. She also has jewelry for sale on Etsy.

Buy Stuff, Help Out:

[livejournal.com profile] podle is looking for help for her sister, [livejournal.com profile] lintninja, who is facing eviction at the end of February. You can help out by shopping her Etsy here. She's got some awesome notecards (including comic book cover cards), jewelry, and cool headdresses -- worth a look even if you're not looking to buy.

Help For Free:

Jean linked to a support-raiser for a friend's uncle, who is in danger of being deported back to Iraq; his wife has a lot of health problems and his family needs him here in the US. They have a petition open for temporary reprieve and are collecting as many signatures as possible. You can read more here and sign the petition here.

And this has been Radio Free Monday! Thank you for your time. You can post items for my attention at the Radio Free Monday submissions form or via email at copperbadge at gmail dot com. If you're not sure how to proceed, here is a little more about what I do and how you can help (or ask for help!). If you're new to fundraising, you may want to check out my guide to fundraising here.
I meant to do origami yesterday, but then R came over, and we ended up watching documentaries and the Democratic debate. Poor Martin O'Malley.

Anyway, to make up for it today I did a camel pulling a sleigh.

I think the camel's actually quite clever -- using the tip of the Bird Base as the hump of the camel (the hump you see there is, in the traditional Crane figure, flattened out into the cran'es body) is rather ingenious. It's a very efficient figure.
