2400 words on VoA tonight! \o/

Never mind that a significant chunk of that was the introduction of a character I didn't know would exist until he did. I'm not worried! He will have a role to play in the story.

As much as I love the story and the worldbuilding, VoA is undoubtedly my problem child. Every single plot advancement is a struggle; writing scenes can be hard, but usually not quite this hard. It's getting easier as I settle further into the story and hammer out the details, but damn. Carry isn't making it easy on me. Then again, Carry wouldn't...

And then we will get very drunk and sing funeral dirges to the tune of "BORN FREE"

I find that whenever my plot is struggling, I kill off a bunch of characters.

I kid, I kid.

NIHILISM AND MISERY! :D

Actually, I had a character death planned, but I'm not sure if it's going to work now....

DOES THE DEATH CONTAIN ANY HOPE? LIKE A NUGGET IN THE CENTER. A HOPE-FILLED GOOEY CENTER BURIED IN THE MORASS OF POINTLESS DEATH AND MISERY?

IT CONTAINED RAINBOWS, KITTENS, AND HUGS.

THERE IS NOTHING BAD IN THAT.

Actually I sat here and tried to imagine the most gruesome death possible that involved all three of those, and it was LOLARIOUS.

SEE? HOPE IN THE FACE OF GRUESOME DEATH!

I was more picturing all those things bursting out of the body.

Yeah, that's where I went, and right before he died, he whispered, in a cinematic close up, "Taste the rainbow."

It's the little details that make you a master of craft.

I think 'fiction' is far too inexact a term-- all these people floating around in the ether until you sit down to write, and then they all go "What about MEEEE?" That's more than fiction-- that's being hijacked by 'imaginary' people. You sometimes have to do what they want.

Oh, that's definitely me some of the time... I was stalled on an original fic I was supposed to be churning out for a ficathon, until a whole new character and POV popped into my head for it and demanded to be written. Which is good, since it makes the fic more likely to be Bechdel-compliant (and in the case of that ficathon, that's a Good Thing, saith Brewster enigmatically).

You know, I'm really glad you've gotten over the writers block or whatever was going on there for a while with VoA, but I'm kind of bummed because I'm way behind on everything in my life VoA right now and won't be able to catch up until December and I'M MISSING ALL THE FUN! *cries* lol!

But really, I'm glad you're back into this, even if it's being a stubborn brat. I can't wait to catch up on it!

A quote from Tolkien:
"A new character has come on the scene (I am sure I did not invent him, I did not even want him, but there he came walking through the woods of Ithilien): Faramir, the brother of Boromir."

And we know how completely wonderfully that turned out!

Are you serious?! Ahaha, that kind of makes sense, I mean, I like Faramir and all that, but he always seemed like a bit of a Gary Stu to me :D
