The first half would need very, very little reworking to be the start of a slightly longer and very readable piece of original fiction. You set the characters of Levy and Lo very quickly and well. I didn't really enjoy the ending as much as I enjoyed the first part (i.e. all of the Levy/Lo) and would have liked it to continue - almost as if the storyline was too 'strong' to be fanfiction, which I know is silly, since there's sterling fanfiction out there (including yours).

LOL, that actually WORRIED me for a while, that the first half was so standalone from the fannish side of it :D I don't think I'm cut out to write a long space opera, though.

As fan fiction, it works - it all ties together beautifully. I think you could write a long space opera, it just wouldn't be about new and shiny weapons and lovingly detailed FTL drives. It'd more be about being human, and not being human, and the dark places in between.

There's still so much spaceship stuff involved. Though my genderfuckery story involves some spaceship stuff too. *ponders*
