I once had an idea where Jack is sent by Torchwood to Unit to investigate rumors back in the 60's.

When he meets the Doctor and realizes its the Doctor, Three just looks at him and goes "I'm not him, dear fellow. Not yet."

Ohhhh, that's a great idea! I love it -- the Doctor would have to somehow know, and I'm not sure how he would, but I SO don't care!

Jack stared. "How did you know?"

The Doctor smiled. "I'm a Time Lord, my good man. I know."

In the end, Jack returns to Torchwood and reports that Doctor Smith is just an eccentric genius UNIT has picked up. No sign of the Doctor.
