THIS IS MY NEW SHOWER CURTAIN.

NOW I WILL NEVER GET LOST WHEN TAKING THE EL FROM MY BATHROOM.

It is without a doubt the most awesome thing in my bathroom, possibly in my entire apartment.

Shut up, trains are cool.

Just...no.

I always thought the Periodic Chart shower curtain was the bestest, but this one may be the bestest one ever! Even though I live No-Where near Chicago. Although, it may be hard to trace a route and take it with you, should you need to.

I think the Periodic Chart curtain is how I acquired this one -- Mum mentioned it, and I said "they make them of the El, too! They're awesome!" and she SEKRITLY had one drop-shipped to me. :D

(I could make a terribly crude joke here relating to the hole trains-into-tunnes Freudian metaphor, but I shall refrain.)

My roommate recently got the London Underground version. I keep staring at it to see a) how much I remember from the month I lived there, and b) what possibly changed in the seven (oh god) years it's been since.

this is pretty awesome.

Your train grid looks very similar to Sydney's. (http://www.urbantransport-technology.com/projects/sydney2/images/sydney4.jpg) Sydney has elevated sections, but also underground. For example, Circular Quay is elevated, but the rest of the City Circle is below street level - Wynyard, Town Hall, Museum, St James. Parts of the Bondi line are underground, but others are elevated. Central has above and below-ground platforms. There's a city loop monorail, though, which is above street level, and there is so called 'light rail' which is on a small section of the old tram grid at street level. Shame we don't have a whole tram system still. Was stupid to get rid of them in the first place. Melbourne's trams are brilliant.

Now the question is: can we get the Cityrail grid in shower-screen format? Of course, I would have to then get a shower which needed a screen, but I WANT ONE.

I have two bathrooms in my apartment. One with an MBTA map shower curtain and one with a DC Metro map shower curtain. They both make me ridiculously happy. The Metro map is starting to look really sad. I'm going to have to replace it soon.

They have the Metro! (http://www.amazon.com/DC-Transit-Map-Shower-Curtain/dp/B002V91T0S/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1275052369&sr=1-8) How ridiculous that I am excited about a city I don't live in, but the DC Metro is the only system I can navigate on my own ([livejournal.com profile] beadslut held my hand the whole time we were on the El in Chicago) and I'm ridiculously fond of it.

My own city's mass transit system works for a select and limited set of people and leaves the rest of us to go hang.

Yay! The El really is the most awesome thing Chicago ever invented.

Tangentally, the best thing I bought myself when I was in London, oh... 12? 15? years ago? Tube map BOXER SHORTS! I could get to any place in London... provided there was a loo to nip into when I needed to check to see which stop was closest. :p
