Good morning everyone, and a bright Diwali!

Really at the moment a festival of lights could not be better timed in Chicago, it is dark out there. And weirdly deserted; the train was empty this morning and there's nobody on the streets, and I can't tell whether it's just that I'm not used to the Winter Desertion because it's been such a hot, crowded summer, or if it's just that everyone decided today was they day they were going to fuck off work. It is cold out as well as dark, so if I had the option of calling in I Want A Three Day Weekend I totally would.

I have a couple of posts I could write here, but honestly? I love the cold weather, I like that my train was empty, and I like wishing everyone a bright day. So I'll save the angry post and the thoughtfully annoyed post for later.

Strangely, my train was more crowded today than it was all week, which is unusual... Fridays are always the empty train days... o_O

Well, part of the dark will be missing after Sunday; that's when we "fall back" to normal time. For which I will be very grateful; a grey dog in the dark just disappears, and he won't stay in the yard!
The only problem is that then I'll get home after dark all the time....

Ugh, today was SO DARK in Vermont, too. STill is, actually, as it's raining and bleh out there.

Definitely need the lights.

Yeah, I think my circadian system is missing the time when we 'fell back' a week earlier. And the fact that it's rainy and overcast after being relatively mild all October doesn't help.

EXACTLY. It was so nice! Now it's awful and dark and dreary. And my body's still convinced we should've fallen back a week ago.

So tired.

My inner child who enjoys ritualized seasonal cues misses the time when we 'fell back' a week earlier. Stupid Government going around and ruining Halloween ...

well, I haven't made it to campus yet, but the view from my window (of a very tiny patch of sky) is very dreary.

Speaking of festivals of light, it's also Guy Fawkes' Day....

Doesn't someone around here have that 'It's better to light a flamethrower than to curse the darkness' icon? Works equally well for a large stash of gunpowder, arguably ...

It's 4:15pm here in Liverpool, and nearly dark, and tipping it down with rain which made for a less than pleasant walk back from the bus stop...
However my copy of Charitable Giving came in the post today (YAY) so I'm gonna turn the heating on and curl up on the sofa with it and a cup of tea :D

It was ridiculously quiet in Miami this morning, too. Nobody in the bank at 11:15 on a Friday? Bizarre. And while it didn't grt light until pushing 7:45, you would think that by 11 things would brighten up. May e there is something in the air or the phase of the moon.

Today is beutiful, bright sunshine and temps in the mid sixties. It was cold and dreary a few days ago, which is my favorite kind of day.

i'm willing to bet that it's been a "meh, let's stay in" kinda day. lots of my officemates called in sick or took what vacation days they've had. i'm just a temp, so i have no vacation or sick to take and am stuck at work in the cold and the drear, wishing i'd stayed abed.

even falling back won't help much. i go in before the sun really rises, and go home around late sunset.

You know what? I feel the same way. We're in the middle of a rain/wind storm, and I should be awfully grouchy that I had to walk to the dentists in it...but it was kind of lovely, and has made me very zen.
(But I'm glad we 'fall back' on Sunday, this pitch black at 6pm thing is Not On)

I'm so glad it wasn't just me. My office was empty on Friday. But I was totally enjoying the weather and I was actually able to get some work done so I really can't complain (not that that's ever stopped me).
