Because I was traveling yesterday and Mum spent most of the day apparently cleaning in anticipation of my arrival, we mostly had Christmas this morning. I got a set of pyjamas last night, as is tradition, and this morning I got a sweatshirt with the TRON logo on it (super cool, shut up) and an origami-a-day calendar and some other awesome things.

It's been really cold here, which I like, and it means we can have the gas fire going in the fireplace, so we've had a cozy day. I've been reading and writing a bit but mostly hanging out with the family. My parents love The Big Bang Theory but they don't really have the correct cultural context for some of it, so we watched a few recent episodes and I explained some of the more obscure jokes. This did not do much for that Marginally Cool reputation I'd been cultivating, but that was pretty well out the window when I put on the TRON sweatshirt anyway.

Mum keeps trying to feed me. Not at mealtimes, that's normal, but all the rest of the time. We had a huge dinner last night and then she spent the rest of the night trying to give me a slice of apple cake or a cookie or some peanut butter cups. She seriously just tried to give me a package of string cheese after I ate a cheese sandwich for lunch. I don't want a Hershey's Kiss! I need seltzer water, woman!

Holstein, their chihuahua, peed on my shirt this morning. That's the kind of relationship we have.

Given your love of "White Collar", the origami-a-day calendar is a genius gift, really.

Yay for cozy family days! I'm having a cozy evening after being out in the impending Snowzilla today. I'm not with my family, though, unless you count the cats.

I love the origami a day calendar -- I had one a few years ago and decorated my whole office with it. :D I look forward to doing it again!

I love TRON with a deep and unironic passion. I think it is genuinely an awesome film :D

I should totally post my origami a day! I'm making a mental note to do that.

I did lose a bit of weight between the ulcer and the bronchitis, but I think mum just likes to nourish me :D

Holstein may resent being named after a cow, which I assume isn't your fault, but still... I just hope it wasn't the TRON shirt he peed on.

That was my thought, too. I sure hope it wasn't your brand-new TRON shirt!

(This icon chosen as it is the geekiest icon I have in my collection right now. In honor of TRON. :))

What, you mean, the NEW pyjama shirt? o_O (I, too, had a moment of "...I hope he didn't pee on the TRON sweatshirt", so I am glad to hear that your new sweatshirt is so far unscathed).

Dude, if he pees on your new TRON shirt, retaliation is in order and you should pee on his blanket.

On the other hand, maybe he's just jealous that your Christmas gifts are cooler than his. It must be weird for him to temporarily lose his status of Favourite Son In The House. What did your parents buy him? *ducks and flees*

He got a nylabone for Christmas, and a lot of green beans. GASSY DOG OMG.

Does he beat Sugar as Gassiest Dog on the planet? or is he just too small for that?

(Now I am wondering if the Gas Output is proportional to size in Dogs. Can a Chihuahua produce as many deadly farts as a boxer provided they are both fed Lethal Beans? mmmm.)

He probably farts less, but when he does, it's WAY MORE DEADLY.

Totally jealous of your TRON shirt. (Is a sweatshirt a hoody?)

Did you also see the one at Threadless? I spotted it after I hit post, for some reason! And it glows in the dark!

Totally unrelated to anything above, but I wanted to point you in the direction of a Yuletide fic that I think you'd enjoy:

"It's the Muppet Doctor Who Special, With Our Very Special Guest Star, Matt Smith!"> Summary: Tonight, the Muppet Theater is proud to present the Muppet Doctor Who Special, the Muppets' tribute to the long-running BBC television series! SPECIAL GUEST STAR: Matt Smith, the Eleventh Doctor! Admission reasonable. Concessions very reasonable. Budget marginal. Free parking.

Granted, I have not seen all the Dr Who shows like you have, but I found it funny, and I'm sure you'll get more of the injokes. :D

I feed people I like. It's like a compulsion, I really almost can't help it. Makes it pretty bad for friends to come to my house when they're on a diet.

An origami-a-day calendar? That sounds AWESOME.

My mum seems to be trying to fatten me up, too. It puzzles me.
