I had my "exit interview" for the job I didn't get today. It was short, and went well, really -- I wanted to know how my writing/proofreading test had gone, and I was told it was exceedingly good, with perhaps a little tweaking needed for the specific "donor" style. My interview itself went well too; basically it was a case of "these guys know more" rather than "you did something wrong". Which is what I suspected anyway. The good news is, they really do want me in the department and are looking at opening a third position if they can get the budget for it, so it may simply be a case of hanging on for another month or two.

But I am applying to other jobs within the company -- I applied to one yesterday, and I'm waiting for one to be posted which my interviewers specifically want to see me go for. So, things go on apace. At any rate, I feel a little wrung out, but there's some nice closure there, which one doesn't normally get after a job application.

This month is not going to be precisely calm. We're ramping up for an event at work, plus I'm only at home for I think one weekend out of four. My dishes may never get washed again. My dayplanner looks like it's been attacked by post-it notes.

I will, especially, be out a lot this weekend, which means I won't have a lot of prep time for Radio Free Monday. It'd be a big help if anyone who's planning to link me could do so by tomorrow afternoon. I'll try to work in later submissions, but I can't guarantee anything -- I'll be using a teeny tiny laptop and then only in the evenings. If you've linked me in the past week, no need to reiterate, your stuff is all prepped.

And now I'm going to go collapse for a while.

Try to have some fun this weekend...

OK. I have no idea what to do to send you a link, so I'm going to put it here, figuring you'll get notification.

Magic Happens Rabbit Rescue in Baton Rouge is taking in 9 rabbits rescued from a breeder who intended euthanize 80 rabbits because she couldn't afford them any more. They need donations for spay/neuter surgeries and any other health things the rabbits might need, food, cages, etc. Their website is http://www.magichappensrescue.com/, and donations can be made through the ChipIn widget on the home page or their PayPal donate button.

More about the story is here: http://www.bunnytransport.com/

Magic Happens is a very reputable, grassroots rescue. I've been involved with them for a couple years now, and I'm impressed with their operation.

Being specifically wanted for a job is great. It sounds like you've got some good opportunities coming up!

But augh, post-it attacks on one's dayplanner are never good.

I've never heard of an exit interview for a job you didn't get. Is it because it's your same company? Whatever, it sounds like good things are going to come of all this in-house applying, especially because they're actively steering you toward one particular job. I don't suppose any of this will put you in more frequent contact with Co-worker Crush? ::hopes::

Maybe, no longer being the Gatekeeper, he will never see her again ...

OR – maybe Coworker Crush is pulling the strings!

I vote for Option #2.

It's because it was in-house, and in part I think because I was one of the final three for two positions. It's not common otherwise, but hell, I've known these people for three years, I guess they figured the least they could do was give me some pointers...

Alas, pretty much any other job I take with the company will take me further from Coworker Crush -- she works in the financial area that I will never, ever work in (you have to have like, super-specialised degrees) and the only reason we really ever see each other is she sits twenty feet away right now :D

Well, phooey. Maybe she'll wonder where you went and seek you out?

Who is going to guard the front entrance when you are gone? The coyotes might get in.

No, seriously, the coyotes might get in.

I'm pretty confident they don't have ID badges to get through security downstairs. :D

LOL, I don't know how we'd know. We're not good at tracking them...
