I'm home! That was actually remarkably fun. There were tiny snack-sized crab cakes!

The event was set up so that we had both pre-registered guests and walk-ins, and after about ten minutes we started watching the door and trying to predict if the people coming in had registered or were walk-ins.

"Which do you think?"

"Walk-in."

"State your reason."

"Shaved head."

I was batting about 600 when one of my colleagues turned to me and said, "We're terrible, judgey people."

And then we ate some more crab cakes.

We also had two crashers who I'm pretty sure just wanted to go out to a bar on Friday night, and decided the $35 registration fee was worth it for three hours of an open bar and assorted snacks. I can't say I blame them.

YOUR LIFE. Someone should write a book. Oh, wait...

Never had crab cakes, but I will take your word that they were delicious and hope you ate my share.

Meanwhile, I'm sitting here drinking your share of a pot of coffee. It's a tough job, yadda yadda.

I'll trade crab cakes for coffee any day. Crab-anything other than fresh just-crab has too strong of a seafood flavor for me. It overpowers anything it's put with until it all just tastes and reeks of dead crab.

Coffee, on the other hand... So happy we have a Green Frog and a Gusta Java here and I don't have to resort to drinking Starschmucks' foul burnt brew.

I'd totally pay $35 for three hours of booze and tiny crab cakes.

Seriously. I would too!

I wonder how many people we'd have to register for an event to afford an open bar and tiny crabcakes at $35/person. I'm betting there was some other donation happening to make that work. Le sigh.
