This has been a rough week. Really it's been a rough two weeks, but the last few days especially. Father's Day is not a day I traditionally cope well with, though at least this year there wasn't the MASSIVE ONSLAUGHT of marketing like last year (I wasn't the only one who noticed, so I know I'm not crazy). Also I've been sore from massage therapy and the massive pressure changes in Chicago have been bugging me.

My traditional response to both pain and anxiety is sleep. Because when you are asleep, nothing can bother you, and it gets you that much closer to whatever horrible thing you have to get past before you can go back to being normal. So I have slept a lot this week. You know that sleep debt scientists say we all have? I think I've paid mine off, because I woke up at five this morning WIDE AWAKE. And since my grocery delivery will be here by nine, possibly as early as seven-thirty, I figured why try to go back to sleep?

So I got up and dyed my hair black. Well, I had the hair dye and some time to kill...

Got my hair cut VERY SHORT. :D My hair grows fast, I have to get it cut about once a month. There was about a month and a half where I looked kind of awkward, though.

I became a girl with super short hair when I decided I didn't want blue hair anymore last summer. Then I had to stop drastically changing my appearance every couple of months because there was no hair left to play with.

When I first went to college I cut my hair super short, bleached it, and dyed it pink =) My hair's now to the middle of my back and I'm contemplating the chop n' dye again, but I don't know if I can still get away with it.

It's one thing to show up at a job interview as a freshman with neon pink hair, quite a different thing as a graduate student =(

Oh I haven't found a program yet, this fall is the Great Graduate School Application Extravaganza! So if I dye my hair now it will be redonkulus while I'm first applying to schools. Which is ok if I get in to MIT ('cause my prof won't care) but not ok if I have to apply to my second choice schools :-/

Ugh, I got up today and immediately wished I was tired enough to sleep again. I don't tend to do the hibernating thing, I just get lethargic, restless and bored all at the same time. So I a) can't be bothered doing anything, b) need to do SOMETHING and c) get bored with whatever I choose to do quite quickly.

So, I've been playing a lot of Hidden Object and Puzzle games and mainlining The Unbelievable Truth.

I think it has to do with being male and 20s-30s: my aide and therapist when I was teaching both spent a lot of time messing with their facial hair and experimenting with radical haircuts, and making fun of each other for it. And making bets with the kids: "If you can keep from getting detention all week, I'll SHAVE MY HEAD..." It was entertaining for us all.

when bored, dye hair. always my motto. gave me tons of fun sophomore year of high school. also helped me over ridiculous relationship hassles in the past year. bad breakup? let's dye my hair red. ish. something.

i'm very experimental. it's two bottles of whatever looks like it'll go together, and away we go. i have lots of hair to dye, so it tends to come out kinda golden and nice. which is hard, coming up from naturally black.

Last night I was at the after party for the Supanova expo in Sydney with GDL and James Marsters, and we were sitting there having drinks with James when suddenly Gareth ran over (after a few drinks of his own may I add), having put on someone's coat, and started doing Spike impressions. It was ridiculously hilarious.

Somehow, I can't imagine you with black hair. I think its' because I always envision you looking like your Maskmaker icon, and that means you are and forever shall be sandy blond in my mind.
