Some days, the strips look strangely different in A Cheaper World.

We have [livejournal.com profile] mylenn to thank for that second one -- she linked me to a Canadian groupon which offered what appears to be a sushi platypus a few days back.

That is totally a dragon, not a platypus.

Agreed. Totally a dragon, and one does not mock dragons.

Thirded.
Platypi do not have ears.
...or trailing whiskers.

Really hoping this isn't the type of dragon on the Pedway Sam was thinking of writing about.

Yeah, I know. But you can't deny it's a bit platypesque. :D

I really can't see a platypus there, sorry. I saw a dragon, then saw your text, then looked up and I think maybe you're missing an eyeball or something, Sam.

I see a platypus. That's a bill on the front of its face. (I also see how you're getting a dragon from that picture, but given the two interpretations I'm choosing platypus.)

I thought you weren't supposed to put pupils in dragons' eyes, because they'll come alive or something. I don't recall any such superstition about platypi.

Well, who's really afraid of platypi. I mean they apparently are poisonous but only if you cuddle them wrong, I'm sure!

The only food that should have faces is Caterpillar Cake.

Although the Caterpillar Cake did lead to interns fighting over who got the face, losing intern sulking in the factory, distressing photos of victorious consumption of the remains of Caterpillar Cake being send round the mailing list and the Director shouting at B and me for all of it, so possibly not even that.

Clearly the solution is to make a caterpillar cake entirely composed of faces. Because that's not creepy!

Faces on BOTH ENDS!

Actually that would probably end in bloodshed.

And caterpillar rolls. There's a great sushi place (confusingly owned and operated by Koreans) near my work that gives them octopus suckers for eyes, and teeny bits of parsley for antennae.

But really - what is up with the dragon/playpus's nose/beak/snout/whatever? Disturbing, yes?
