Guys, I totally forgot about Radio Free Monday and how I will be in Las Vegas when it occurs.
Tonight I'm going to prep what I've been sent, but I'm officially putting an early RFM deadline on this week -- if you can't get it to me by tonight (for our international folks, that's anytime in the next six hours after this post goes up), I can't guarantee it'll go in. If you have an item that's non-urgent or Just For Fun, please hold off till next week?
At work, today is a day of tying up loose ends! A day of yelling at the budget office! A day of being spooked by the utter emptiness of the floor!
It is eerie. My train was nearly totally empty this morning and the north loop was like a ghost town. I got my haircut yesterday and the people at the shop said they were closing for the weekend to avoid any NATO unpleasantness. There are nurses marching in protest, somewhere, we keep getting bulletins about it, and the newspapers seem to be actively trying to make us fear for our lives (fear sells). I have about sixteen ducklings and five of them are at work today; the rest are remoting in from home or taking a vacation day.
Whenever the air conditioning goes off, it's so quiet. I suspect I'm in the prologue of a horror film.

Things are bustling as usual in Burbank today, though I did find an open toaster at 9:00 at Bagel Friday ... eerie.

Date: 2012-05-18 08:30 pm (UTC)I saw the nurses. They were very well behaved and waited for the light to cross Michigan Ave.
And now I've just watched the police close Michigan a few blocks at a time working north from the river. It was impressive.
