I am home! I encountered no end of interesting people on the journey. The guy in the seat next to me took a lot of video while he was staying in Vegas, including some spectacular footage of late-night street fights being broken up by casino security. Also, there were four cops on the train I took home. I've never felt safer.

Now is all the bedtime. Or, given my body thinks it's only nine pm, all the watching TV for an hour or two and then bedtime.

Glad you are back!

Also-- silly question; I'm assuming that said street fights were outside of the relevant casinos? (*envisions vigilante off-duty casino security guards, roaming the mean streets of Vegas, looking for trouble they can stop*)

LOL. VIGILANTE SECURITY!

As far as I could tell from the video, yes. I mean, I don't know they were Casino security in specific but they all had giant grey jackets reading SECURITY, so.

The street fights were simply manifestations of Chicago, trying to get you and missing.

Don't argue with the cities. Jack Hawksmoor can tell you about that.

I really need to investigate Hawksmoor further. Stormwatch leaves me more or less uninterested; I liked what I read of the Midnighter run, but both are a bit gory for me (the violence is fine, it's the graphic visuals that I struggle a bit with).

I'm given to understand he talks to cities, which is relevant to all my interests. Does he have his own run?

Technically, yes he does. But to Jack, cities are like people. Some are needy. Some are off-putting. But in a pinch they always listen to him. He had Paris eat hostage takers.

Hawksmoor hangs out in the Carrier, a sentient cargo ship that is big enough to qualify as a city. The Carrier likes Hakwsmoor and his buddies.

A good place to start with the Authority is the Mark Millar/Brian Hitch stories.

How very psychogeographical this all sounds. I must investigate.

not sure if you were informed, but since you're interested in comics...
http://popwatch.ew.com/2012/05/22/x-men-gay-wedding-the-view/

marvel x-men's northstar is getting married! and DC comics is trying to be all "oh! and yes, one of our iconic heroes is totally gay too!!" good times.

If anything, it's Kyle Rayner coming out.

i wouldn't doubt that.

there's been talk that it'll be batman, since it's supposed to be an iconic character.... but mostly people are saying it'll be aquaman because he's not as well loved.

Aquaman loves Mera too much.

Arthur being bisexual wouldn't be a surprise.

I really hope that weird armor on the girl in front is the 'I Am An Evil Soulsword Armor Bonus' craziness.

If I remember correctly the 'iconic hero' for DC who's gay is Batwoman, it's not like it's been a secret. And I keep staring at that cover going...why is Lionheart/Captain Britain on there???

they mentioned batwoman. but they're referring to the character as a he, and saying it's iconic... meaning they're taking one of the older characters (think anyone in the justice league) and having him come out as gay.

so green lantern is likely. batman as well. unlikely to be superman, but all things are possible.
