It is record-breakingly hot here in Chicago. I'm considering forming a permanent relationship with my air conditioner. I'm also seriously considering looking for jobs in Antarctica. Surely they need a project manager and I bet I'd never have to call anyone a cab.

So I'm staying inside and writing. I worked a little on Dead Isle, and then I wrote a fanfic, which was a nice way to break the TOTAL STALL I was in. And also, you guys get porn!

Title: Moving The Furniture
Fandom: Avengers (movieverse)
Rating: R (Steve/Natasha)
Summary: Steve thinks about sex a lot, and he'd like to have some, if he could just stop being an idiot around the people he'd like to have it with.

( It's not that Steve can't talk to women. )

Fake cut takes you to the fic at Dreamwidth.

I'm pretty sure this story makes it seem like I'm obsessed with Steve Rogers' virginity, but honestly, this one is all [livejournal.com profile] 51stcenturyfox's fault.

Foxy also got me an AO3 account, so that I can post this as a gift for her there. I'm not sure what my status vis-a-vis posting to AO3 is going to be in a permanent sense, but rest assured, all fanfic will also be posted at the Dreamwidth account and linked from here and the sam_storyteller LJ. (Posting is becoming quite the production number.)

Anyway, you can find this story here at AO3 as well.

I love these Avengers fics! Steve's viewpoint is adorable and the interactions of the team as housemates are hilarious and make me nostalgic for living in a big house full of people.

I have to admit that's a LOT of what fascinates me about the comicsverse, the fact that all these people decided to live together in Tony's random mansion. It's like the best reality show ever.

You know that scene in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels where Freddy is running around excitedly screaming OKLAHOMA OKLAHOMA OKLAHOMA!!!!

Well, I did something like that when I read this, only Steve/Natasha. :D

It's priceless! <3

PleasepleasePLEASE post all your fic at the AO3! It makes it very easy to find and to download as ebooks on the hop as well! (The eBooks open directly into my iPhone with iBooks or Stanza, for instance.)

Going forward, I possibly will. I can't imagine loading up all the stuff in my archive onto AO3 without crying, because oh my god it's SO MUCH WORK, but it does seem to be the go-to spot for fic now, so I'm considering it from here out.

Oh, yay! I thought Cap and Natasha were a really interesting and underappreciated pair coming out of Avengers, so yay! I was very pleased that, for all the joking about Cap being straight out of the forties, oh this crazy modern world and its changes!, the women of SHIELD didn't seem to make him blink twice, and he had one or two great moments with Natasha. Plus, I have always wondered if the Captain Beefcake scene introducing Steve was deliberately meant to counterbalance the cheesecake scene that introduces Natasha (which is still fan service even if it is also a con).

I'm considering forming a permanent relationship with my air conditioner.
I hear you; installing AC is at the top of my to do list this week. And as a Chicagoan currently without air conditioning, I suggest ceiling fans and copious amounts of gin and tonic (made with cucumbers rather than lime).

Hehe! I am endlessly amused by this comment, because my mother tries to convert everyone she meets to cucumber - it's like she's been set a mission to educate bar staff nationwide.
I will tell her she's no longer the only person I've heard of that puts cucumber in gin, she'll be thrilled!

It didn't snow on Easter.

It's Satan's ass hot in Pittsburgh too. Gah. I'm doing the I-hate-being-right-about-the-awful-summer-we'll-have dance. But it's a more of a dirge.

Thanks for the fic. It brightened a stinking hot weekend. Also, if in future movies, Natasha calls Cap "baby", I may coo with delight.

Yes indeed. The top reason I usually push AO3 is that I think fan-owned servers are a genius idea and an important (if tiny) step in getting the internet ever more free and un-censorable... but I'm also an avid fanfic reader with eye problems, so I do rather dream of the day when *fantasy* ALL the fanfic is downloadable to my e-ink reader. :D

If necessary, I would be on the team of text-movers too! (It is unlikely that I'd be a lot of help, being slow at internetting these days from aforementioned eye problems, but I would try. Because having Sam's fic downloadable is totally self-serving A Good Cause. XD)

Dying here in London. I get home and GET NAKED, because I'm too poor for a fan. (And then I have to clothe myself to get food because of the roommates. My suffering, it is mighty.)

I was just about to say this! We came back to the States on Monday, but it was very warm in London and since we were renting a flat, we had no A/C. We did have a fan, at least. And a nice breeze through the window but since we were on Charing Cross, we couldn't sleep with it open (so much noise).

I hope it gets better for you soon!

Ah, yes. This weekend was SO HOT. I was at the comics expo with a friend in tails, and he was dying.

Glad you're back in a country where private homes have A/C. Not so much over here :)

We saw a whole troupe of superheros getting off the Tube (it was WONDERFUL). We had wanted to go to the comics expo but instead we a sword fighting thing (which my husband does here, so he wanted to connect with new people).

:D Our house doesn't have A/C, or at least, we only have two window units (for six rooms). Mostly, Boston is much cooler right now, so we just don't NEED the a/c. Yet. It's in the window, waiting. Boston is also generally old enough that central air cannot/has not been installed, but we make do with the window units. Or just being warm.

In London, the windows in our flat opened on hinges like doors, and had no screens, so I don't see how you could possibly install a window unit. We were lucky that the fan was enough, and we could be in coooool museums in the afternoons.

Yeah, that is pretty standard over here now and is most of the reason that window AC are so rare - the other being their exorbitant price over here.

If you dislike calling cabs for people (and I understand that because it is a ridiculously simply task easily done by the person demanding YOU do it...) then simply pull a Donald O'Conner:
"Call me a cab!"
"Ok... you're a cab!"

They'll never ask again.
