COMIC BOOK STUFFS.

So, I heard from a source about a nine hour cut of the Avengers films that assembles them in chronological order and apparently cuts out some bits to make for tighter narratives. I'm actually rather fond of Iron Man II, which seems to get most of the hate, so it's not that I'd prefer the nine hour cut, I'd just like to see it. As the article says, for Science. So if you know of a torrent download link that doesn't lead to the now-defunct-for-good Demonoid, feel free to post it in comments, For Science.

Also, if you are a comics fan, particularly a Womanthology fan, Jean is auctioning a limited edition copy of Womanthology signed by tons of editors, writers, and artists, to raise money to help with Womanthology creator Renae De Liz's medical bills. There's info on the signers at her tumblr and the auction is here.

But it doesn't include Hawkeye: the Early Years (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1194173/)! =)

I know my friend has it on her computer, we watched parts of it and then got annoyed with the cuts (we are not the kind of people who think "less is more" when it comes to films) and went back to watching the complete films in order, I'll see what torrent she used for acquiring it tonight.

I've seen the complete films in order a couple of times, and I do think I'd probably prefer that, but I'm interested in how they've set up the sequence, and apparently some of the scene juxtapositions are interesting.

It's just not fandom till you've spent thirteen hours straight watching movies. :D

My husband and I very nearly did exactly that; we stayed up extra late 4 nights in a row watching the entire series of White Collar-season 3.

And so of course, I ABSOLUTELY HAD to go read the synopsis of S4 on IMDB today, to find out how Neal gets back home!

And yes, that is the general plan.

I like Iron Man II WAY MORE than Iron Man. Seriously. I get a bit sad Pepper and Rhodey don't work it out, but I can buy that, and I just love the Natalie-and-Pepper stuff and Rhodey and Justin as dark mirror for Tony and Tony being this messed-up miserable creature Not Telling. Iron Man just doesn't do that much for me, and I have to expend enough energy ignoring the neo-con-ness to make it uncomfortable.

Also, Iron Man II has the hairporn Natasha fight. Iron Man has no Natasha AT ALL.

LOL!

I suspect a lot of the people who dislike Iron Man II may be missing the "self-destructing because I'm dying" bit. Tony's actions come off as toweringly douchey -- and they are, I'm not denying -- but if you wrap your head around the reason for them, they're at least explainable. Every douchebag move he makes throughout the entire film is done with a clumsy but ultimately good motive, to make sure things are settled before his death.

I actually liked the "cut" where it's in chronological order because it really firmed up Iron Man 2 for me. Not that I prefer watching it that way, but it made the Marvel verse canon feel a lot more connected when I could place when stuff in each movie to the when in the other movies.

But I watched it at a friend's, so I can't even torrent it for you. Sorry :(

I try to stay away from public trackers for the miniscule amount of protection it will afford me, so all I can say is I found it on one of the private trackers. I googled 'Avengers Initiative' and found a link to the Pirate Bay, which I will not click on but that might help you narrow it down. FYI it's about 13GB filesize.

You really are tempting me into trying this, except my WDTV is irritating to deal with for long long files and resume and the download would kill my ratio. Hmmmm. Will consider. Thanks for the heads up!

Job well done! Gold star for you. And if you want Avengers fanfic, gimme a prompt. :D (Except no Thor/Loki. Hard rule, sorry. :D)

Looks like all the versions on TPB have less that 20 seeders each. Which means it'll take about 8048054 days to download. :( If you hear of any others, can you give us a heads up?

Search Avengers Initiative on kick ass torrents, it'll be the 13 gig one. I'm pulling sources from KAT and TPB and I've got about 18 hours left on my download.

I'm running two different one's I found on TPB. One's got 2.5 days left, the other 1 day 7 hours. *headdesk*

Mine oscillates between like, 10kb/s and 1.3mb/s. It's actually kind of hilarious.

My two are running between 18kb/s and 40kb/s. At least we know some people are seeding.

seriously? I WIN!!

Can I have an Ironsides timestamp? I know the whole thing hangs by itself, but I'd really like to see anything with Rhodey in her life...

I'm not 100% sure what a timestamp is -- you mean like a missing scene or coda? (Can totally do that, just want to confirm.) Any particular era you'd like it from? Mainly because the idea of Tony asking Rhodey to be the kid's godfather makes me LOL.

A timestamp does mean a fic that fits in somewhere around canon, like a prequel or sequel ficlet that takes place, say, five years before, or ten days after, or ten minutes after. A lot of people write things that are technically timestamps within a fiction, by including them as prologues, epilogues or flashbacks, but they also get written as these separate extra bits of canon content, often in response to prompts, questions from readers or as giftfic for readers interested in knowing more about a character or a verse.

And by canon I mean both the actual story/book/film/comic/whatever, or the canon of derivative work based on that canon. Ugh, words and clarity, why so hard at 1am?

A timestamp is indeed a bit of fic set off from the events of the fic proper.

godfather!Rhodey--I am loving it already!

(and yes, you terrible man. I am going to destroy my ratio and download the Avengers Initiative Fan Edit. SIGH.)

I found a link to what looks to be the right thing, it'll just be a while before I can d/l it. Our monthly satellite internet plan is 15G, total, so any big downloads have to wait until we're at my family's place in Sydney, with their lovely unlimited adsl2. Metro comparable, my arse.

I still don't get mobile phone reception in my house, either, though I only had to walk a few metres from my front gate to get a text the other day. The weather must have been right for it. Me and my first world problems.
