SLEEP STUDY: DONE.
LAUNDRY: DONE.
REVERSE BIG BANG: SCHEDULED.
PHONE INTERVIEW: PENDING.

Oh god, this week.

I will likely be fairly silent for the next few days, though there's a chance I'll be instagramming like a mofo on Friday, while at C2E2. Depends on whether the reception at McCormick Place has improved at all (unlikely). Hopefully they'll have Captain America stuff on display and I can go eat a hot dog while looking at Captain America's shield; it's my patriotic moment for the year.

I may be a little punchy today; when you do a sleep study, they cover your head and face with electrodes, put a cannula in your nose, wrap two belts around you to measure your breathing, and put more electrodes down your pants on your legs to monitor leg movements. I'm guessing they got a lot from me because it's very hard to sleep on your back with a bunch of wires gelled into your hair.

When she was putting the electrodes on my head, the tech said, "Your hair is so soft! It's like a baby bird's feathers."

Thank you, I grow it that way on purpose.

And then they expect you to be able to sleep. Yeah, right.

I've never had a sleep study myself, but my mom did one-that was her biggest gripe-you get wired up, and you're so covered in all that monitoring equipment that you can't get comfortable and fall asleep!

Awww feathers!
My sleep study was a bit different - they gave me the equipment to take home. Not too many electrodes, belts for detecting breathing and a pulse oximeter to send my finger to sleep. Not exactly comfortable, but not completely sleepless. Unfortunately they wanted the recorder box back very early the following day - when I got home I collapsed into bed for a proper sleep. Yours sounds much more thorough - I hope they find something that's useful to you.

Have a great phone interview, and a fabulous Friday.

when I had my (most recent) sleep study done, it was the day they had the earthquake in Canada, and the building I was in was close enough that I woke up to the shaking, covered in electrodes and extremely confused. When I told my mother about it later, she managed to convince me I'd dreamt the whole thing. And I totally believed her until I saw a thing about it in the news the next day, at which point she no longer had to worry about keeping a straight face and laughed her head off at me.

My mother is a troll sometimes.

I did breeze past on Friday! I'm generally too shy to stop and actually say hello to people.

Good luck with the interview, Sam! My husband just underwent a sleep study, and he would agree with you on the non-sleep aspect. The worst part for him was all hair-related: removing electrodes and washing out the gel.

Please don't take this as a creepy-stalkery comment, but I'd bet that a large percentage of the Café now want to ruffle your hair. Just saying.

Oh, I was going to say that there has to be a cafe group wildly tempted to draw fanart of a chibi Sam with baby-feather-fuzz hair.

It's all very tempting. :D
