WELL today fell apart FAST.

Mum was fine coming out of surgery but then they gave her a bunch of drugs that made her pukey, and then they gave her a drug to counteract the nausea that made her groggy. Mind you, sitting and reading tumblr while she slept was infinitely preferable to all the barf-bag holding I have done today, but the amount of disorientation she keeps experiencing is a little freaky.

And then we got a call from the ALARM COMPANY that someone was maybe robbing our house.

Wait no let me rephrase: I GOT A CALL from my PARENTS' alarm company. Because my mother, naturally, was not answering her phone, given she was UNCONSCIOUS, and Lucky had put his away to sit with Mum, and I'm the backup number. I was out having a walk and promptly freaked out all over the alarm company guy, then ran back to the room and freaked out all over Lucky.

Lucky took off like his ass was on fire, heading home to see what the problem was, while I sat in the hospital and worried about the dogs like it was my job. They're just so tiny and fragile. I mean you could kick one of them and that would potentially be the end.

The good news is it was a false alarm; I don't know the details yet but I swear to god when Lucky texted me that all was well you could HEAR my blood pressure drop.

I am ready for this day to be over, adulthood sucks.

"adulthood sucks."

I agree. I'd like to take back all those wishes for being a grown up.

I never wanted to be an adult. Though I will admit the ability to purchase and consume ice cream at any time of day is nice. :D

GAH. I'm in that adulthood and I DO NOT LIKE IT EITHER. Stop the ride. I want off.

Glad it was false alarm. Glad mum is getting through this. Good luck with the rest.

*shudders in sympathy*

Argh. That's a big stress sandwich, but at least the house and dogs are OK, and hopefully your mom soon will be.

Yiiii. I know how scary it is when your -- by which I mean my -- Mum's vomiting and disoriented, so have a sympathetic hug.

Having the worry about the house and the dogs is just what all of you did not need; at least the alarm was crying wolf.

Hope your Mum is feeling better as I type this.

*Hugs* - I'm stuck with Adulthood, too - and I did not consent to it! I mugged me while I wasn't looking!

My house was broken into a number of years ago and my first reaction was "Oh my god, they could have hurt the cats!" My second reaction was "Uh, self? The cats were 500 miles away at the time, just like you were." (I was visiting my mother for Christmas; the cats were performing emergency rodent control officer duty for her.) So I can certainly understand your (more well-founded) fear. Even if they hadn't kicked the dogs, just letting them outside could have been bad. Though from working at a vet clinic, I can tell you that the tiny dogs are less fragile than you'd think.

The pups are pretty smart and not that fond of "the outside" :D I wasn't super-worried about them getting out -- the back yard is fenced, and when they get into the front yard usually they just wander over and hang out in the neighbors' flower beds. I was mostly worried any potential burglars would want to silence them. I would hope they'd be smart enough to hide, they're reasonably clever little cusses, but they do like to alarm-bark new people.

Oh dear. I hope your mom recovers quickly. I'm glad nobody was actually robbing the house, but geez, what a scary thing to have happen when you're already on edge!

Fucking adulthood, man. It's the pits.

Yeah, I was like COULD ANYTHING ELSE HAPPEN TODAY but tried not to say that aloud, it seemed like tempting fate. :D

Jeez, what is it about today? I had the adventure of being evacuated from a gas plant where I'm working for two weeks.
