Last night AT&T disconnected my internet. They were supposed to disconnect it on the 21st. Not sure how they got "Wednesday the 9th" from "Monday the 21st" but since I called two minutes too late to speak to a reactivation specialist, they told me they'd have to make a new account if I wanted internet back.

So I've got no internet at home until the 19th of this month. Just, FYI. I may have said some very abusive things to the Customer Care team on twitter. They were a shitty ISP anyway.

But, the positive note in all this is, I won't be home for much of that time. I'm flying out to the east coast this afternoon, and I won't be back until Sunday evening. Then I'm moving on Thursday and Friday of next week, so really between now and then that's only four nights without internet. I can totally handle that. *jitters* Right?

Anyway, I'll try to post regularly from Boston but the best way to keep an eye on me is twitter or instagram, where my photos will be posted -- tumblr too, but tumblr also has my queue stuff so it clutters up a little more.

I'll say hi to the Sacred Cod and the Sargent murals for everyone.

I am so glad there are normal people outside of Massachusetts fisheries scientists who know about the Sacred Cod. It makes us all sound a little less crazy when we start waxing poetic about it.

I learned about it from him, and I've lived in the Commonwealth for 9 years! I need to teach my coworkers, most of whom are also from out of state, about it.

I totally, completely empathize w/you about the AT&T internet issue. We had a nightmare with them, years ago (pre-Twitter, even) over an "upgrade" that was supposed to be done over a long weekend, and then turned into a saga of "No, we never should've sold you internet, b/c of where you're located..." I was less than kind in my interactions with them, too.

On the plus (?) side, my kids were impressed with just how angry I could get to a complete stranger :-P

Yeah, they wouldn't sell me U-verse because I was in the wrong area for it, or the wrong building, or possibly just the wrong tax bracket. But they were the only ones who would sell me ANY internet without me providing a birth certificate to prove I was who I said I was (seriously) so....

Way back in the day, I booked a ticket with British Airways to go to my best friend's wedding. I booked by phone, and told the lady that my stay would be "from the 27th to the 2nd." As in, from December 27th to January 2nd. When I arrived to collect my ticket, it turned out she had booked me from December 27th to FEBRUARY 2nd. When I asked them to correct it, they told me I'd have to buy a first class ticket. Obviously, the fault was completely on their side. Who assumes that when you say from 27th-2nd, you would mean the 2nd of NEXT month??

Needless to say, I didn't get to go to my best friend's wedding.

Ugh, that sucks! D: I bet it was a typo. The January-February confusion can be strong. But that doesn't excuse their response to fixing it.

I was supposed to be in Boston this weekend, at Readercon, but for various reasons had to cancel at the last minute.
