Oh my god, I fixed it.

Nobody touch anything.

*hesitantly pokes his LJ override code*

I'm never going to change anything on my LJ styles ever again. I spent SIX HOURS fixing the bloody comments code. (Seriously, nobody say ANYTHING about my competence, cos I am NOT IN THE MOOD.)

This is why I've never made a custom style. Making the custom moodset nearly killed me anyway.
This is the reason you haven't seen any new Stealing Harry/All This Time/Sweet Home. After Thursday, I promise...

Your midterm will be composed of two to five of these questions. Use primary sources and historical fact (established dates, etc) only.

1. Provide reasonable evidentiary support for a terminus ante quem of the Roman Republic.
2. Discuss Cleopatra's motives in influencing the second triumvirate. What was her agenda, both realistically and as expressed in Roman literature?
3. What was the function of Emperor according to Augustus? Did he destroy the Republic?
4. Explain the training which Tiberius brought to the role of Emperor, and his flaws as discussed by Tacitus.
5. Who killed Agrippa Postumus? Name the main suspects and motivations, and provide reasonable conclusions as to whodunit.

Freebie Gee-Whiz fact of the day: Augustus didn't destroy the Republic. Sallust was already discussing its fall the year Julius Caesar was assassinated.

My theory is that Pompey brokes its kneecaps by restoring civil order within the city using the military, and Julius Caesar finished it off when he crossed the Rubicon and marched on Rome.

Tennessee application is off!

I suppose I ought to figure out if that's how you spell that state.

Fifteen days early even. Now the only one left is the New York application. Which appears to have no due date. It needs a new cover letter, cos the one it has was gacked from the one to the DC place and still says the name of the other theatre in one part.

Also have finished gathering information and forming thesii on the essay questions. The more I read Tacitus, the more I feel the need to get the hell out of America. I love it like Cassius loved Rome -- in spite of its awful self.

Sounds like how I feel about humanity in general.

chaos_pockets
You spelled Tennessee correctly. Which impresses me, as I lived here for three years before I could do that. *is a horrible speller* There's an internship in this state worth applying to? Which one? *is curious*

There are a couple of theatre internships in Tennessee; fewer that I could apply to, being a dramaturg. I'm not going to say which one I applied to in particular, cos I keep that kind of thing on the down low, but I know there's a Shakespeare company that does fascinating work with prison inmates -- they put on Shakespeare plays, about two a year, full drag and all. Interesting stuff.

I'm impressed-- it takes some real strength of mind to tackle Tacitus. I had to force myself to get through "Annals", leading to some very funny... if crude, comments.

copperbadge
Oh, I love Tacitus. He's so filthy and fascinating, as a writer.

the_verb
Filthy, yes :) That's what got me through it... it was like reading a Roman gossip column, only worded more eloquently. I preferred the Livy, surprisingly, over anything else I read in that class. Although Catullus is always entertaining. You can't beat a poem with "lacivious bitch" in it.
