You know you're a geek when....

Jump the Shark by John Hein )

Anyhow, if you're interested in pop culture for its own sake, it's a decent book for $2, but if you're actually interested in being at all thinky about pop culture, Jump the Shark is interesting for abouuuuuut five minutes, and then you hit the bit about the Simpsons and the book, ironically, also jumps the shark.

So in conclusion, nobody should pay the full sticker $20 for this book, not even rabid pop culture consumers.
I'm feeling pensive this evening for plenty of reasons, from flist friends having horrible crises to family issues of my own. So, it's time to play with the readers of this journal, in the best sense of the word. As we've just played Let's Hack Gmail a month or two ago, I think the time has come once more for my other most favourite meme, which I do about once every six months.

This originated in a sublime moment of television, oddly enough on an episode of One Tree Hill. A new teacher asked his students to turn in an index card with one word on it, expressing the thing they most desired. The end of the episode was a slow shot of him flipping through them, and I was intrigued by what possible emotions he was feeling as he read them.

So.

You have one word to tell me what you want -- in this moment or for the rest of your life, or somewhere in between. Logging is off. Please post anonymously, not for your sake but because I don't want people grandstanding -- in other words, if you post with a username, I will delete your comment.

I'm off to help with dinner -- I'll check back in a few hours to see how you lot are progressing.

And "tomfelton" is still not one word, you pervs.
