Jun. 4th, 2005 02:43 pmToday in the bookstore I saw a book that I swore was titled "Origins: Our Place In The Horrible Universe".
Turns out it was actually " Origins: Our Place In Hubble's Universe " but I think either title is pretty accurate really. The universe is pretty horrible, when you think about it. I mean I'm fond of it and all, but objectively speaking, it's not exactly welcoming or kind.
I think I should note that it's amusing that I know at least two people who have probably read this book for pleasure.
Also, word on the street is that on Tuesday there's going to be a Permanent Account Sale on LJ. I'm torn. On the one hand, I have the money and there's no doubt I'll be on good old elljay for a decent while yet. On the other hand, paid LJ has always been a gift for me, and I'm not sure the money is worth it. $150 USD gets a permanent account. A year of paid account is $25. A year of extra userpics to bring it up to fifty is $10.
So in order for it to be worth it, I'd have to be certain I'd be on LJ for more than (150 divided by 35) four more years. If I wanted MiB Disk Quota, whatever that is, it'd have to be three years.
Well, the odds are good, but I think I'd rather pay as I go. More control that way, anyhow. And I don't begrudge LJ the extra money, if I do end up paying more. I think they rather deserve it, really.
