So I looked back on today and was all "Man, yesterday was so much better, yesterday you got all that work done on LC, and what did you do today, huh?" And then I went "oh right, you applied for two jobs and rewrote three plays into actual submittable prose."

No, seriously. SURREAL. I've been in school since I was three; the real world has a totally different values set that I'm still adapting to. I'm probably going to end up one of those people who get interviewed about their job when they're forty and say "I still wake up every morning going what do you mean, I get paid for this?"

I dug out and read through the first play I ever wrote (sophomore year of uni) when I knew nothing about playwriting or political theatre and it's...actually really funny and interesting. In fact it's a lot better than most of the plays I've written since. Clearly I'm just a big pile of raw talent ruined by a hearty intellect. :D
*cracks up* Browsing through more literary journals today, I came across the following guidelines:

-- We are unlikely to publish poems which demonstrate Eternal Truths about God, Love, Death, Television, the Problem with Men, and/or the Problem with Women.

-- While we are looking for "experimental" work, "experimental" does not just mean "shocking."

And finally, my favourite EVER:

-- Stories which take place in bars or which appear to be written to demonstrate a young writer's familiarity with copulation will not be read beyond the first mention of copulation or the bar.

Also, I'm not so fond of journals which require a submission fee and give you a "free" subscription in order to up their subscription stats. *snooty*
