Mar. 18th, 2006 07:00 pmWow. It's weird to be so excited about fanfic.
Now, don't get me wrong. I love writing Laocoon's Children. If I hadn't gotten such an enormous kick out of Stealing Harry, I never would have started LCI, and if I hadn't enjoyed LCI I wouldn't have written it as I did. I would have written it in the style of The Uncle, which is one part actual action to nine parts exposition and therefore crams the first five books into a story that can fit in one LJ post.
But LC is also a huge challenge, and year two was especially hard because I didn't particularly enjoy it when I originally read it. If book three had sucked I probably wouldn't have gone on to book four (as with King's DT series, which stalled me out at the tedious Wizard And Glass).
So I'm really...pleased that I'm so excited about LCIII. I woke up this morning, had some breakfast, did the family thing, read my new email, looked over my flist, went "What should I do next?" and then thought HEY -- I CAN WORK ON LCIII.
I think one of the reasons I like this book so much is not just because PoA heavily features Lupin, but also because it's tautly written right up until the whole time-travel snarl. I still can't get that sorted when I read the book; the movie is the only thing that managed to clarify events for me. So I'm also really looking forward to....well, smoothing that bit out, a little.
Plus the kidlets are growing up, and teenagers are more interesting than eleven year olds, dramatically speaking. Mainly because, when you're thirteen, everything is a drama. One kidlet ship is already started and another one is launching in III; Dora and her beau are coping with her job, not the easiest in the world; Andromeda's feeling empty nest syndrome; all kinds of explosions are priming to go off at the end of III....it's all very exciting.
Chapter one is off to the betas; now I just have to sort out a few things regarding chapter two, and I should be able to breeze through three by the end of the weekend if I get enough "leave me alone I'm writing" time.
