The family as a whole requested buffalo chicken wings for dinner tonight.

This came with a few caveats, however.

They can't be fried because deep frying is unhealthy* and anyway we don't have a deep fryer (Mum). But they had to at least be a little crispy (Lucky). And they should be spicy (Lucky and Bernard) but not too spicy (Emmy and me). And we couldn't bake them, really, because turning on an oven in a house located in Texas is MADNESS.

* This is pretty unhealthy anyway. But dude. They're buffalo wings. You don't eat them to get good cholesterol.

This was my solution. Please note that the wings are cooking as we speak. I wouldn't bookmark this as a recipe or anything until you hear the final verdict on...

Wildebeest Wings )
Le "tongue twister" des "lit" et "lit". Avec thé.

Il lit dans son lit
Dans son lit, il lit
Si dans le lit il lit
Il lira en prenant
son thé au lait au lit!

Lit: (ahaha)
He reads in the bed
In the bed, he reads
If in the bed he reads
He will read and drink
tea with milk in bed!

Rainette has been helping me with my French, sending emails in simple French for me to translate and send back. In her latest one, talking about Father's Day, she used the phrase "le thé et les croissants au lit" which translates as "tea and croissants in bed". However, "lit" on its own is also the verb "read" in the third-person-present. So while "au lit" is "in bed" (more or less), "il lit" is "he reads".

I like playing with words. :D

Apparently it could be "au lit", not "dans son lit", but I like "dans son lit" better :D
I am reminded that I did not post about how the Wildebeest Wings went.

They're a qualified success. They were not at all crispy, but they were terrifically tender, pretty much falling off the bone. The main problem is that I hadn't factored in the Crock Pot's tendency to make anything shed all its excess fat, so instead of drying out and getting thicker, like I'd hoped, the sauce became even thinner from all the grease the wings had in them. I think this could be solved by putting them up on a rack and not adding quite so much sauce at the outset.

Still, they looked like buffalo wings and tasted reasonably like buffalo wings, and we finished all but two, so I call it good. Especially since I invented the recipe from my own fuzzy head, and it's a very useful recipe, as you can throw them in the pot and forget about them while you make all the other snacks for whatever party you're having. :D
