Jul. 8th, 2006 08:16 pmJust saw Pirates of the Caribbean II. I'm not even sure how to discuss it; it swings wildly between farce, which is pretty awesome for a pirate film, and a fantasy interpretation of Saw. Which is, you know, less awesome.
I don't like it as well as the original, but I still loved it, and I don't say that about many movies. And it was written with different aims in mind, I imagine, so comparing it to the original isn't really fair.
Nice to see so much of the original cast back again. Including the rum.
I did laugh a lot. I'd like to see what else those screenwriters have written, because they manage funny, slapstick comedy without devolving into stupid toilet humour.
(Speaking of which! Night At The Museum: Could be the first Ben Stiller movie since Reality Bites not to suck mightily! I'm kind of excited!)
Commentary Post-Hack: Still haven't seen Night at the Museum. I feel it is no great loss.
OH AND: I have discovered where the geeks live. They live at Pirates of the Caribbean movies. I saw more dorkitude in ten minutes before that movie started than I've seen in the last year. THESE ARE MY PEOPLE, YO. *knuckles away a tear*
