So, I made it home, though I did have to pull one illegal u-turn.
Cyclists are generally much more polite than drivers, you know -- I don't think it's any kind of innate good nature, though, I think it's just that cyclists tend to communicate more clearly and give others the right of way because in bicycle-vs-car bicycle very rarely, if ever, wins. Austin drivers in particular can kiss my ass, because the proper response to an "I'd like to change lanes" signal, when you are in the desireable lane and already behind the person, is not to speed up in an effort to beat them to some imaginary finish line.
