Oct. 31st, 2006 06:26 pmI'm home!
And I'm not going out tonight. I love Hallowe'en, but I spent all day sorting cage cards. I would feel bad about "missing" the holiday, except that I try to feel bad as little as possible these days. Part of it is, well, you know what? It's okay to stop jobsearching for a week after moving across the country, and it's okay to miss out on a week's worth of life when settling into a new job.
The job will get a little better when I start doing what I'm supposed to be doing -- right now I'm using a general-use computer that only has internet when people aren't printing cage cards, which they are more or less constantly doing. Once they get me my internet clearance the computer will be mine and will have its own internet source instead of sharing with a printer, and I'll have Real Things to do instead of saying "so, I did that, now what do you want?" and getting blank looks from the two perfectly capable women who share the office, and who really need help with purchasing (what I'm supposed to be doing) and not filing (what I am doing).
So I'm declaring Hallowe'en postponed until Saturday, and with it the end of the dead year. If ever a dead year needed that three days' grace, it is now. :D
I hope you all have a grand time, and wear many a fanciful costume, and don't raise anything with too many tentacles.
(And while I would love to write a novel in the month of November, I'm going to attempt to build a career instead. Three resumes a day ought to be about on a par with it, do you think?)
