I tried to post twice from my celphone to LJ today, but I guess I'm doing something wrong...

Very little access today due to it being the Day Of Much Printing, and whenever anyone prints or threatens to print I have to disconnect from the computer and essentially twiddle my thumbs. I played a lot of freecell today, and sent off two job applications when I could. Scholarship job is a bust, they gave it to someone else. We're still sorting out just what I'm going to be doing for the two women whose office I share. It appears now that I will probably not be doing the purchasing myself, but will be handling paperwork for them so that they can spend more time with the unwieldy program that they now use.

I had been told that this was something the animal techs handled, but as it turns out the people who do the purchasing actually handle the physical arrival and distribution of the animals. This means that today I helped lift and sort boxes of live mice. It was really interesting. The mice and rats, because their numbers are vast, go into a holding room across from our office to be picked up by the techs, while the larger animals are taken from the loading dock directly to their new home via a "backstage" elevator that is so. Stinky. Omg.

If only to get away from the tedium, I volunteered to do a fried-chicken lunch run for everyone, as there was a sudden seizure of craving for it. The nearest chicken joint is quite a ways away but it was a nice walk. It also doesn't take plastic, so I could not have any chicken myself, but that's fine, I wanted the time away more than I wanted the crispy-fried goodness.

My addiction to lists is paying off; I'm getting more done than I would otherwise because of my total compulsion to Make The List Smaller. This does, however, mean I probably won't be around AT ALL tomorrow -- I have to go to the library before my books start earning fines, and then do my laundry, and then work on the House recap.

I get a bit anxious still sometimes, especially as I really, really don't want to do this job for any longer than absolutely necessary, but that's just the drive that gets me up at six am so that I can whip through my normal jobsites and email myself anything that looks promising.

Next week I'll start adding "write some fanfic" into the mix, and we'll see how that goes. :D
