Nov. 2nd, 2006

I got here early enough this morning to get some internet time in before the printer was needed, and managed to apply for two jobs -- one in educational admin and one just for the hell of it, at Cereality, a novelty cafe chain in Chicago that serves mainly breakfast cereal. I want to sell breakfastfoods for a living! Yar!

I talked to the IT guy today who says he's going to lean on them to get me an internet login (so that I can, you know, GET PAID before December). He said he'd send someone to bring me a laptop I could use, but then the Someone showed up and said the laptop's wireless connection didn't work in this room. IDK, I give up, I'm going to go sit in the corner and read Bernard Shaw.
I CAN DO IT ALLLLLL.

Actually that's a total lie, I can't, but it feels like I can because after work I managed to not only return my library books on time and check out two more but also do my laundry and my dishes. And I sent out job applications today. And tomorrow I'm going to a play, and Saturday a play, and Sunday to prayer-meeting (I fancy how old-fashioned that sounds though in Puritan times I would have been burned as a Devil's Disciple) and next week? I am going to see a re-creation of an early-20th-century adaptation of The Maltese Falcon for radio.

I managed to write a little today, not much, but it kept me looking busy anyway. And I managed to plow through one of Shaw's essays and all of Saint Joan on the El. I'm brushing up on my Shaw in particular since I'm seeing one of his plays on Saturday.

Wot I cannot do: make sourdough starter (it got moldy before it Started). Also, keep anything on the top shelf of my fridge from freezing. I'm going to have to clean it and reconfigure the shelves this weekend.

Still, looking at my to-do list, I'm pretty satisfied.
