Jul. 13th, 2007 07:38 pmI thought I was on a 9-5 shift like I have been lately but to my delight I discovered I was only on from 9 to 2, which is bad for the bank balance but good for my world view. Also, Big Boss wasn't there, so we had a nice relaxing shift and Nice Boss and I talked about the joys of California chain food -- he's from Vallejo, so we share a lot of common touchstones like In-n-Out Burger and See's Candies. Most of us could sympathise also with his cravings for a Carl's Junior hamburger, since in the midwest Carl's Junior is known as Hardee's and there isn't one anywhere in metro Chicago.
The face of the Box Office has changed a lot since I joined. When I first came in, most of the people there were Chicago natives. The new kids are both fresh from rural Iowa, however, so I almost feel like a veteran Chicagono -- until M says something and reminds me that she's been in Chicago for ten years. :D
Anyhow, I got off at 2 and ran down to the barbershop to get a desperately-needed haircut, then got on the train and promptly fell asleep. I'm going back down for a nap as soon as I finish writing this, too. And I'm sleepy enough that I've forgotten the point of the post, though there was one at some point.
I was going to buy garlic bread for dinner but because of my low energy and recent puking I'm sort of half-assedly trying not to eat food where I can't pronounce or identify the source of the ingredients. It has nicely trimmed out the fast food places near work and forced me to cook more, without actually meaning I can't eat foods I like. I mean, butter and garlic powder on bread, toasted in a toaster oven for six minutes, gives the same general effect and seems somehow more wholesome, even if it isn't necessarily.
What is "lecithin", anyway?
