Today is my twenty-eighth birthday (as some of you have already noticed *grin*). It's the first birthday I've had where I'd prefer to forget that I'm getting older; still, it's nice to know people are thinking of me. I got a copy of The Late Hector Kipling in the mail yesterday, courtesy of a very dear friend, and I've been snatching stray minutes with it whenever possible; it's dark and witty and just a little show-offy, but then whose first novel isn't?

Mum also sent me Hot Fuzz and Four Weddings and a Funeral, which remains one of my favourite movies. Well, I don't know Oscar Wilde personally, but I can get you his fax number...

So I shall be escaping into Art Lit today, and possibly wrapping myself up in a blanket and watching a movie tonight.

Also, QI premieres today! There shall be mad quiz show comedy again!

I'm working every day from now until my parents arrive to help me move; please anticipate a nervous breakdown on September 27th. :D

Everybody focus really hard on making the Lyric Opera call me for an interview today. I'm perfect for the job they just advertised, and as they didn't advertise it on any of the performing-arts websites I'm thinking I might have a chance. *grins* That would be the perfect birthday-present.
I made good time getting home tonight, then dumped my bag, fell on the bed, and fell asleep for an hour. Go me?

So, today was a good day -- nothing really out of the ordinary except that it wasn't a bad day. I mean, at some point in this city one does think that any day where a dead bird doesn't hit you in the head is a good day. I sold a bunch of tickets, had a nice lunch of leftover macaroni-and-cheese with General Tso's Chicken, and got a seat on a remarkably crowded El train. Also paid a bunch of bills. Good times!

Hope everyone else's day was without incident. One day down, eighteen thousand to go...
