Oct. 8th, 2007 07:55 amI just watched the pilot of Pushing Daisies. It is twisted and awesome.
It's like a kinder, gentler Delicatessen or Edward Scissorhands, but no less dark, what with the dead bodies and the pie neuroses and the fact that he can't pet his own dog. Although it does concern me that the format, which is just a little tiny bit precious, is not going to hold up in a 22-episode drama series season. It's possible it should have been a feature film, a miniseries, or designed along the lines of British television with only six or eight episodes per season. Time will tell, I suppose. I'm going to enjoy the surreal graphics and quickfire dialogue until we know, anyhow.
I'm off to work in a few minutes, since I'm opening today. So beginneth the Very Long Week Of Longness in which on my one day off I have a job interview AND an ushering gig....
