Wow, so, Holy Name caught fire last night.

It's one of only two churches in Chicago that I've been in, though I used to walk past it all the time. It's right near the Chicago red line stop, plus the place I get my hair cut is just south of it. It is -- or rather, I suppose, was -- gorgeous inside, lots of wood paneling and stained glass and a beautiful rose window. I was there scouting locations for a chorale performance for a buddy of mine, and the accoustics are pretty impressive.

On the other hand, there is a certain beauty to the fire itself, as well -- check photo #4, it's pretty astounding.

Also, did Gmail remove the "search the web" option from the searchbox at the top when they did their pointless and aesthetically displeasing cosmetic update last night? I am lazy and do not wish to move the mouse an inch upwards to the Web link! :D

Although We Do Not Have Any Dragons (that you know about anyway)

As I have long suspected, I am the only person on the internet who cares about Welsh tourism.



It's not like we have good beer or nice museums or a CASTLE or attractive tourist information centre attendants or anything. It's all bloody Edinburgh Fringe and Madam Tussaud's and Stonehenge.

I'd tell you what Stonehenge is really, but it'd only shatter your pleasant illusions.

For lunch today I had macaroni and cheese, followed by chocolate pudding, and apple juice.

Why yes, I am seven years old, thank you for noticing.

On the other hand, the mac and cheese was homemade with panko topping and penne, and the pudding had a crushed graham cracker crust. My inner mommy is the best. :D

My nose is chapped. So chapped that one of my nostrils has SPLIT OPEN at the top.

Only one solution to this.

You don't even want to hear about the three layers of skin that peel off my lips on a daily basis. It's not like I'm an idiot, I have two tubes of Burt's Bee's medicated balm and I wear the Balaclava Of Dorkiness to stave off the cold, but still my face is FREEZING OFF.

And yet I still would not move back to Texas if you paid me.
