Man, I have messed and messed with Nameless until I can't mess no more. :D

Actually that's not entirely true. I'm still open to feedback but I'd like to set a deadline of Friday if you have comments on any portion of it -- I'm going over it in hardcopy this week (great big pages, teeny tiny font, still killed the printer) and hopefully will be putting it through Lulu's paces next weekend. And I still need to figure out if I'm retaking the photo I'm using for the cover.

I've been training New Guy to substitute for me, because he's supposed to be covering my lunch hour. It's a weird contradiction because he's kind of a dick, he's unqualified for his job, and he spends half the day on his cellphone.

On the other hand...he really needs this job because it means benefits for his wife, who's in chemo, and he spends all that time on his phone because he's talking to his wife/daughter/doctor about her. So how much can I hate him? Except I totally do. And am putting off taking time off work because I can't leave BossBoss alone with him, it'd be cruel.

In other news: R texted me at oh god early this morning that he's going to be playing live on a midnight radio show this Wednesday. I hate to tell him there's no way I'm staying up till two am to listen to him play the blues when I can hear him play them live at three o'clock on a Saturday afternoon.
THERE IS A STRANGE LIGHT IN THE SKY. I think people call it "the sun".

I've thrown open all the windows, because for the first time in Chicago my windows all have screens on them and I'm not at ground level. Of course this means tomorrow there will probably be a snowstorm. Which would be okay with me, actually, because I've been here nearly three years now and still have not been snowed in ONCE. Who does a man have to wink at to get a proper blizzard around here?

In other news: My mother is 57 today. And felt compelled to remind me that I will be thirty in six months. Looking back on my life I find I have not founded a religion or conquered anything, but I've written a lot of porn and that has to count for something. Also, I have achieved the rank of 10th Degree Master in Mornington Crescent, which permits me sixpence a year annuity from the Queen and the right to ride the El free on New Year's Eve. I've waived the annuity; she has enough on her mind, poor dear.
