So, I have SEVENTY THREADS in my gmail box this morning. Not emails or comment notifications -- threads.

*rolls up sleeves*

To keep you all entertained while I'm working on replies, I invite you to explore the stage-musical adaptation of The Secret Garden. Given that I was just called a craven -- with interpretations ranging from "a crow-raven hybrid" to "Can I call you Archibald?" -- it only seems appropriate to share a bit of music with you about the Craven family.

These are all, as far as I can tell, from one production and believe it or not are the best recordings I could find. If someone has better, feel free to share -- the others on YouTube are all really really quiet or really really bad. If I'd had any presence of mind this morning I'd have packed my CD along with me.

A Bit Of Earth - Archibald Craven
A Fine White Horse - Martha
I Heard Someone Crying - Mary
Winter's On The Wing - Dickon

[livejournal.com profile] melayneseahawk has also graciously provided us with the Broadway cast recording, which you can grab here. :)

Enjoy!
Oh MAN, I am so beat I can't even bother to be witty about this afternoon, when the El broke down and we all had to get off at Belmont and stand in the sun waiting for the train "directly behind this one!" to come along.

I really wish the El drivers would stop saying that bullshit. One, OF COURSE THE NEXT TRAIN IS BEHIND YOU, YOU ARE ON TRAIN TRACKS. Two, it is never ever directly behind us -- the El is supposed to run every seven to eleven minutes, and we waited twenty for the train "directly behind" us, which they sent express from four stops away.

And man, I know the El is underfunded and they can't help when shit breaks down, but people might be a little more kindly inclined towards the El drivers and crew if they didn't feel like they were being blatantly lied to. Just...stop saying it. That's all you have to do.

But my spirits are undampened. I'm going to R's grill party tomorrow and there will be tons of BBQ and good impromptu blues because all the bluesmen and women are coming. The Ratpacker will sing some Sinatra if I ask nicely (we're also apparently the only two people who have ever heard of "When I Fall In Love", so he might sing that) and tomorrow's the annual Air And Water show, so we'll probably get to see some cool airplanes fly over. Then everyone's going out for live jazz afterwards, so I can flee at a decent hour.

Tonight, however, I sleep. Zzzz.
