Sep. 2nd, 2009 04:05 pmI have finished annotating my Minnesota State Fair map. I think I can safely and without repeating a meal eat nothing this weekend that is not presented to me on a stick. They have beer on a stick. I'm not even sure how that works.
I haven't even looked at the events yet...
I fly out tomorrow morning, meet up with the 'rents at the hotel, and then we're going over to the fair together. Lucky's pretty interested in the livestock, though I suspect that's winding down, and I think mostly I will just wander. Friday I will probably go to the fair earlier than they will, then meet up with them for Garrison Keillor. Then, Saturday morning, we fly out! Which means Sunday and Monday off, for a true weekend even after my vacation.
As it turns out the office is not going to fall apart without me after all, because NOBODY WILL BE HERE. EVERYONE IS SICK.
Relatedly, Oprah Winfrey will be closing down four blocks of Michigan Avenue (Ohio avenue to the river) on Monday and Tuesday, to do a show. I don't know what Chicago's normal opinion of Oprah is but man, the loop's opinion of her this week is ugly. Lots of telecommuting on Tuesday, I suspect.
