[livejournal.com profile] imaginarycircus has asked me not to talk about not being dead anymore, so instead let's put it this way: I am still alive. Though for a while around 2am I really wasn't sure I would be. I feel like I've been beaten with sticks.

I have been remiss in reminding people about [livejournal.com profile] writerinadrawer the last few weeks, mainly due to state fairs, the plague, etc. But I'm still in the running! And as a participant I'd like to remind everyone to have a look at this week's entries, and vote here for your favourite and least favourite.

I'm going to go move around a little now that I'm not shivering constantly, and see if I can make some food.

Nrrgh.
I'm feeling a bit better now that I've got up and moved around some. I made pickles and baked beans, so the whole flat smells like vinegar, which I like as a smell so I'm not bothered. My neighbours probably think I'm running some kind of drug lab.

The pickles recipe is simple -- 1/8 cup salt, 1/4 cup vinegar, chopped garlic clove, and 2 cups water, boiled and poured over cucumber spears and dill. I used a regular old cucumber, so we'll see how that works; I should have used pickling cucumbers, but PeaPod doesn't carry them in this area, I think.

Pickles require patience. You're supposed to wait three days. BE PICKLES NOW, dammit.

I used plain tinned beans rather than tinned baked beans in the Baked Beans this time (you can find the recipe in my recipes tag) and just added some ketchup, and it came out great. At least, I think it did. I can't taste a whole lot. The vinegar did clear my sinuses some.

I've spent the rest of the day sleeping off and on. More on than off, but then the last two nights I've not slept at all well. I think whether I go to work tomorrow depends heavily on whether I sleep tonight.

HELLO NYQUIL, MY OLD FRIEND.
I don't normally check or answer the "Writer's Block" questions on LJ, but I have to admit:

If an online psychic warned you not to leave home, would you cancel plans to attend a party?

sounds like a great summary for a novel.

For the record I would not only go to the party, I would be very excited to see what was going to happen once I got there. And normally I hate parties, so actually it would make the whole thing much more bearable.

I hope it's aliens!
