(no subject)
Sep. 14th, 2009 04:19 pmI managed to get some sleep last night, so I got up this morning and hauled my ass in to work and for once, blessed once, Monday was not insane.
I actually found myself looking for things to do this afternoon, which very rarely happens. While I am behind in writing, and I need to send my WIAD off to beta, I'm pretty fairly situated both professionally (we're coming out of the hell of the reorg) and personally (all my bills are paid and next month I might even be able to start rebuilding my savings). As glad as I am to have health insurance, that broken ankle still cost after-insurance upwards of $500 (I know this because my flex-spending card maxed out at $500 and yet, I'm still paying bills). If I hadn't had insurance I'm guessing it would, as my broken wrist did, hover around the $2k mark, perhaps a bit more. Being clumsy ain't cheap, kids.
Tonight I am going to go home and rest quietly, and maybe catch the rest of Southland so I can post the fic I wrote. It's such a tiny canon, seven episodes, and it's so hard to write police procedurals that I suspect for me this will be another Life On Mars -- much beloved, but not really a subject for fanfic.
I'm also consciously trying not to do the thing where I zero in on one character and tap into fandom through him, but Cooper's not making it easy for me.
I sense a pizza in my future.
